Cloth Diapering

If you use homemade detergent...

How much do you use for your regular laundry? We do 1-2TBS for the cloth load every day, but not sure how much to use for our regular clothes.

We just finished off our old detergent and figured we'd just stick with the homemade stuff since it's cheaper.

Do I continue to use 2TBS or should I be using more? We have a top load HE washer.

TIA!

Re: If you use homemade detergent...

  • I use an oxyclean scooper and fill up to the line, which I think is 1 TBS, not really sure. Although lately I have been adding a little bit more b/c I noticed that my towels kind of had a stinky smell though the clothes were fine.

  • I think it depends on your recipe, my diaper detergent doesn't have zote soap in it, but my regular detergent uses it. I use different recipes each. If I gave to use the diaper on regular laundry I would probably use a little extra.
