Pregnant after a Loss

For those of you in the 3rd trimester....

do you have your name(s) picked out yet for your LO?  How long did it take for you guys to agree??

We found one we loved early on (SO surprised) as we are only 8 weeks away from my EDD...and we are very excited for "Elijah Chase" to arrive:)  I'm still a little scared b/c I won't feel good until he is here, and born healthy, but it does feel nice to refer to him 'by name'.  Though, my 5 year old DD is sad that "she can't name the baby!"...

Just wanted to have a little fun and throw this post out there:)

Re: For those of you in the 3rd trimester....

  • We had names picked out before we were even expecting.  LOL  Our first daughter's name is Ava, and it saddens me that I'll never call her that in person because I love the name so much.  But I really like the name we picked for this little girl.  I am scared of using her name for fear of "getting too attached"...  but DH reminds of all of the time that we already are attached, and God forbid if something does happen, it's already her name.  So I may as well start calling her that!  :)

  • We haven't even talked about names yet! I feel like it will really be something we decide on at the last minute. It's hard for especially my husband to "go there" because we have already been through a whole pregnancy and we still don't have a baby. I think we are still kind of doubting that we'll bring home a baby this time. But still, this little girl deserves a name! (sooner or later!)

  • I'm 41 weeks and going to be induced tonight. We picked out names before finding out gender, though we were still unsure about boy names. Glad she was a girl and excited to meet our Lydia Jane in the next day or so.

  • We had a name picked out in 2nd tri. I loved it as much as I love DS1's name. Then DH decided he didn't like the middle name and tried changing it all up on me. We compromised on a different middle name which is a family name so I'm happy with it, even though it doesn't flow quite as nicely as our original name. :)  but it's still a nice name.

We picked out a girl's name easily which means we'll probably never get a chance to use it, lol.
  • We have a list of our top three first names, and we'll probably decide after he arrives. So, we're still calling the baby "he" (when it's just us) or "it" (around other people). It would be nice to call him by name, but we're just not ready yet.

Congrats on finding a name you both love!

I'm counting 27 weeks as the beginning of third trimester.  We had both a boy's and a girl's name picked out before we even conceived this LO.  Our girl's name we both love is Ruby June, but we are having a son, so his name will be Jericho Clark which we both adore, too.  We've been calling him Jericho since we found out he is a boy at our A/S.  It made it so much more real.  I am still sometimes blind-sided when my sister asks me questions using his name, but I guess I better get used to it.

    All ALers welcome!
  • We chose her name (Viviana Mae) after we found out she was a girl. It helped me throughout the months to bond to call her by name, even though it made me nervous.

  • @mmsweeney1 DH's great grandmother was named Ruby, and I just love the old fashioned girls' names.  My first choice for a girl was Georgia Claire, but in my heart, that name belongs to the first LO we lost, even though we'll never know for sure whether s/he was a boy or girl.

  • When my daughter, Aurora Lynn, was born still  I was so glad we had named her and called her by that name from the time we knew she was a girl. It was one less sad decision I didn't have to make during that time of confusion and sadness. It also made her time with me feel more real.  We did the same thing this time.  We picked Lillian Rose as soon as we new I was having a girl.  We use her name and include her in everything already. It makes me happy and hopeful.

  • Thanks, everyone...and I'm so sorry for some of your previous losses:(  Sadly, I was in a similar boat as I had a loss with my son when I was 21 weeks along last summer...we named him Chase (we knew from the moment we found out we were having a boy), and to honor this boy, that is why we are using Chase as the MN.   What we've gone through is so difficult, but we hope that the names we pick will be for our beautiful rainbows that we should be welcoming to this world, HEALTHY, very soon!!!  All the best of luck to you:)
