Success after IF

What are you doing for Father's Day?

What are you planning on getting your H for Father's Day? Will you have your LO make something or will you buy him something from baby? Or some combination of the two? (read: I need ideas for crafts!)

Also how do you celebrate the day?

Re: What are you doing for Father's Day?

  • I was thinking of ordering a personalized coffee mug with each of the children's names on it since this is pretty much the size of our family unless some great miracle happens. The problem with Father's Day happening during summer vacation is that I can't rely on the art teachers to 'make' the children's gifts so I need to get creative.

I'll have the boys help me bring DH breakfast in bed. He wants to go mini golfing again this year. (I was thinking a bike ride with all the tag-alongs and trailers would be fun. We'll see what the weather will be. His BFF is having a b-day party for his twins that day and DH has generously agreed to attend. (I thought it was so rude to host a party on Father's Day. I do not like the wife at all.)

Well I am going to be working so it will be a true boys day without me! I was going to have LO draw with fabric paint on an apron for BBQ season. But then DH got me patio furniture for Mother's Day and I decided LO is still too little to actually do what I envision for the apron so we are going to keep that idea for next year and I am going to get him a lounger for the patio instead. Feel free to use it!
  • I took a pic with the kids outside next to DAD written in chalk and will have DS make a card.

I will be celebrating DS's 3rd and my 34th bday that day so daddy will have to share. :p

  • Sorry, can't help you there as I'm not a crafty person.  M and I go to a developmental "class"/playgroup once a week, and I'm sure the teachers there already have a Father's Day art project planned for us next week, so I don't have to come up with one myself.

Other than that, we are going to lunch at a German beerhall.  I already got him a gift - a ticket to see Tempest next weekend with his sister while I"m on babysitting duty (I HATE putting M to bed at night b/c he just cries and cries).  But I probably will also get him a pack of his favorite beer on Father's Day weekend.

I am getting DH a few giant peanut butter cups from a local shop. Those will actually be from A, along with a cute card. I'm going to get him a case of some summery beer. Hopefully I'll get a BFP around then too!

I was also thinking a taking a little train ride in the mountains near us with another couple and their daughter.

I have no freaking clue. Mh totally blew Mother's Day, so I'm torn on being lame for Father's Day, or doing something awesome to make him feel guilty, haha. I did the really cute collage last year of E holding a D, A, and D. Then printed and framed them. I'd like to do that again with both girls another year, but not this year.

Edited for terrible spelling and to say I love the BBQ apron idea for another year for MH, when P is old enough to join.

  • @TJ1979 I'm with you. I got nothing for Mother's Day and was pretty sad about it. I know it's because MH didn't celebrate these things in his family, but still. So yeah, I have nothing planned. I almost bought a custom made "Dad" keychain for him. Maybe I still will. Not sure yet.
