Couldn't wait for brag Wednesday. DS1 (who has ASD) went to the dentist for the 1st time today. DH took him. I was really scared. #1 He has some etching on his 2 top front teeth, I was scared of what it was. #2 He eats tons of sugar (he has MAJOR eating issues) and gets no fluoride (he won't drink water) #3 He lets us brush his teeth but doesn't know how to spit so we've been using fluoride free. I was scared his teeth are starting to rot. He let the dentist examine him and she said there is no evidence of decay or any problems whatsoever. The etching (I thought it was light stains, but noticed it has a texture, also) is something that developed prenatally and is not hurting him and unlikely it will be on permanent teeth.
THANK HEAVEN!!!! We needed something good, desperately.
DS1 has started to protest against tooth brushing since we started using fluoride toothpaste a couple weeks ago.

We are trying to teach him how to spit. We're using a really small amount of toothpaste and we get a little water in his mouth to try to rinse it out. Not sure how to get him over this toothpaste problem. I picked a fruit flavor (Tom's, strawberry I think) because I figured he'd like that better than mint. We were previously using Weleda tooth gel. He used to be very cooperative 90% of the time and now he doesn't like it. It wasn't an immediate change, either. He didn't seem to care the first few times we used the new paste.
