So I read on the websites for the new diapers I got that they suggest using Ecover Fabric Softener once a week with their diapers... but I had always thought that Fabric Softener on Cloth Diapers was a big no-no.
I think Ecover is plant based so it is cd safe.....though I have heard of people using regular fabric softener on their fleece covers to cause a similar effect as lanolizing wool covers.

My friend uses it, but she had some major issues with her prefolds that we're not entirely sure what happened. When she prepped them, they got super quilty, and shrunk a LOT. Her red edges are the size of my yellows. I even went to measure mine, andthey're pretty spot on with what GMD says. Plus, they are super scratchy if she doesn't use the ecover. I don't think I understood how rough she meant til I felt them myself. But I don't know why either of those issues would come up....?
I've heard that Ecover isn't good for PUL, so I only use it occasionally on my fitteds because sorting would be a PITA since we use both fitteds and pockets everyday. Once a month or so I put my fitteds in a "quick wash" with Ecover in the dispenser and it makes them super soft.
@mmm50, thanks that's what I'm thinking. I think I won't buy it yet but they suggest once a week and that sounds excessive since I don't know if this will be an issue for me. All of my diapers have come out soft/quilty after being prepped so I'm going to wait and see.
