TTC after 35

Update of my cycle (CP mentioned) - long

Hi, ladies, hope you are all enjoying the summer.  I am a horrible poster, I finally get on and post some updates on my end.  Thank you Becky for thinking of me.  I decided to switch RE in March, now I am going to Cornell.  As much as that place is so crowded and almost like a factory assemly line, I think it's a great place, very organized and efficient and I absolutely love my RE.  He is very responsive and called me throughout the IVF cycle. I started my BCP at the end of March and injections in April.  I responded very well to medicine for my age according to my RE.  I had 10 retrieved, all matured and 5 fertilzed.  I transferred 3 on day 3 and 1 made it to freeze.  Unfortunately, I had a chemcial pregancy.

I had an appointment with my doctor last week, he said he felt encouraged based on my response and he recommended me to do a FET cycle in July.  I am a bit surprise that he didn't ask me to do another fresh cycle since I only have one to transfer.  His logic is since I have regular cycle, I don't need to take any medicine and the one they froze made it to day 5, so it won't be too harsh on my body.  But if we really want to do a fresh cycle he won't oppose it.  My husbnad and I will need to think through it this month.

On a lighter note, my husband and I had a conversation, he encouraged me to go back to all the exercise I did.  As some of you might remember, we bought a house.  So between the busy work schedule during winter. moving and TTC, I wasn't exercise the way I used to.  I went for a run over the weekend and got back to my spin class.  I feel so much better and happier.  My husband and I are both taking some mini vacation this week, he is going to Scotland for a golf trip and I am going to Puerto Rico with my girlfriend.  Can't wait.

Sorry for the long post, good luck to you all.

Re: Update of my cycle (CP mentioned) - long

  • jchow009 - I am so sorry to hear of your CP.  Sending you {{{hugs}}}

    It sounds like you really like your new dr - which is great.

    We also only had 1 frozen blast after our 1st failed IVF.  Our RE recommended we do another fresh cycle in order to 1) get more blasts, and 2) potentially be successful with that transfer (it also failed but we did get 5 blasts to day 5 which were frozen).  Her logic was that if we only wanted 1 child, then she would recommend doing the transfer of that 1.  However if we wanted more than 1 child, then her recommendation was to do another fresh cycle.  The logic being that if we transferred that 1 and it worked, then if we did want a 2nd child in another year and a half - 2 years, I, therefore my eggs, would be that much older, and it could be harder.

    It definitely sucked doing another fresh cycle, and I do think the 2nd cycle was harder on my body than the 1st, even though it was the same protocol; but we did get a lot more frozen so we are now set for the future.  Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding our decision process.

    Good luck to you whatever you guys decide!  I am keeping my fingers crossed that this next cycle will be the one for you!
