Trouble TTC

Day after Laparoscopic surgery.

So ladies I got my laparoscopy yesterday ... Good news is that there wasn't a hydrosalpinx in my right Fallopian tube after all. My RE told my fiancé he removed a cyst that was as big as 2 golf balls put together (not sure what kind of cyst) that was right up against my tube and ovary (I guess blocking the view since we were sure this was a hydro) and also he removed some endometriosis. Left side was great. I have band aids on my belly button, right above my vag, and one on the left side.
I have yet to speak with my RE although he called at 10pm last night, which I thought was sweet of him, but I was asleep.
This was my first lap... A little more pain and bloating than I expected since the good stuff wore off. I have pain in my right rib cage and feel really gassy. I took a laxative just to prevent any issues there. Doc prescribed me Toradol (1 every 4-6hrs) but I just had my fiancé give me 2.
So now the next question is how did having that cyst prevent me from becoming pregnant the past 3 years?
I guess that will be something to ask next week at my F/U appointment.

Any of you ladies who had laps done.. When were you able to lay on your side? My back is getting sore and I tried to put weight on my left side since it hurts less. Is this ok?
Going to call RE's office in a little while.

Re: Day after Laparoscopic surgery.

  • Also I had a little bleeding which they say is expected but will go away.

I layed on my back for the first few days after my lap; I'm usually a side sleeper, but it was too uncomfortable. If it feels ok though, go for it.
I agree with @Hoping4LO; I wish I had moved around more after the surgery. I mean, I was out almost all day two days afterwards (mostly sat though), and that was a bit much, but I should have walked around the house a little more.

I'm still a little groggy but definitely not as doped up as yesterday. I wish I slept better last night. Was up every 3 hours. I was able to keep down toast and 2 bowls of chicken noodle (I was starving!! My surgery wasn't until 2pm. Yesterday so I had to fast that whole time - worst part lol) I walked around a little. I have 2 big dogs so I don't want them jumping on me but I think they know plus my fiancé walks right in front of me just incase.
  • Like PP said, if you feel comfortable, go for it.  Everyone's recovery time is different.  I think a lot depends on what they found/removed.  I had a ton of swelling and couldn't drive, lift, or bend over for a couple of days.  Then couldn't wear jeans for about 2 weeks.  But I did have a good amount of endo removed.  Others deal more with gas pains, and the walking around helps.

    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!
    Camila Josephine arrived 4/30 :)
  • I have no advice but I hope your recovery is quick. Take care!
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • MrsWaffles I feel it in my ribs but every hour I've been getting up to walk down the hall. Just sucks getting in and out of bed. Nurse just called and said I can sleep on my side and if I want to take Tylenol PM to sleep tonight it was ok.
  • I just had lap done 2 and a half weeks ago. The first few days i was very bloated (actually bought maternity pants at a yard sale and wore them 3 days!)
I laid on my back several days and had to wear maxi pads for about 4 or 5 days. I got up and walked a bit after the second day and think it helped.hang in there!

  • I know this post is little old but wanted to offer some advice and I hope you are recovering well. I had my 2nd lap on May 30. I must say that it went way better than my 1st back in Nov. The more you walk the faster you will recover. I am just now feeling comfortable wearing jeans again. I had 4 incisions: belly button, L and R side of lower abdomen and right above vag. I am a stomach sleeper all the way so I had to make do sleeping on my back for a few nights then felt comfortable swapping to my side. With my first lap I had some pain in my shoulder area from the gas and it was the worst feeling trying to get up and down. But with my 2nd, I could have literally danced out of the hospital. lol. Hardly any pain at all...It could have been that I had a much stronger pain med though. GL on your journey. Prayers for good news soon.
