Tuesday workout

How are you guys doing so far this week? Just finished my workout for the morning, did a full body one from Fitness Blender. It was pretty challenging. My eating has been good. I am slooooowwly but steadily losing pounds, but I am noticing a nice change in my body and the way clothes fit, so motivation has been high.

I've downloaded some new music and with the C25K I'm motovated to work-out, I now have to work on my food.

I have to get control of my eating on the weekends.  I'm doing the old W.Watchers Momentum plan and I'm not pointing or logging on the weekends.  That's the next thing I'm working on.

  • I've been eating terrible since the move. I need to go grocery shopping and start menu planning again. This weekend I hope to make a BJs trip and stock up on some healthier stuff.

I've also been wanting to ask for opinions on muscle gain. I'm pretty happy with my fat loss but there are some more areas I wish were more muscular, especially my shoulders. I like the nice rounded look in front. My guess is I'm not eating enough protein. I do plenty of exercises in that area, maybe I need to up my weight?

  • I'm doing a 2 mile run today if LO perks up. I really recommend the nike running and nike training club apps. They have great exercises for what I don't have a lifting plan.

  • Without knowing what you are doing @shakeyJakey, I will say don't be afraid of heavy weight if you are looking to build muscle.  You should struggle toward the end of your rep set, and by the end it should be damn near impossible.  And yup, lots of protein is key :)

  • I got back to it yesterday after a week of being sick and then the period from hell came the following week.

Did a 40 minute run/walk with the new jogging stroller yesterday. I forget who recommended the Schwinn but I love it and I have a couple of questions for you.
  • @PrivacyWanted‌ was it you who recommended the Schwinn jogging stroller?

@notsharknado has been kicking my ass on fitbit.  I had about half of her steps for the last week.   :P

This just means my kid is running me to the ground.
  • I just ran a 5k on Saturday and started the 30DS again today.  There is a trampoline arena opening in my area next week and they have a trampoline bootcamp fitness class that I can't wait to take!
    That sounds like fun!

Trampoline boot camp sounds like the most terrifyingly awesome class ever. I would surely break my neck.
seriously, how fun does this look though!  https://albany.flighttrampolinepark.com/activities/flight-fit/

  • I'm so jealous @FalconCrest!  We have a trampoline place, but it is almost an hour away.  I wish it was closer, I feel like it is such a good workout when we go just to play, I can't imagine how good a workout the classes would be!

I love that I'll be able to bring all three of my kids with me and they can go bounce in the kids area while I workout!  This will be the best place to burn off some energy in the winter, too!  I am just jealous that I didn't come up with the idea, first!

  • I'm off to the gym in a couple minutes for week 7, day 3 of C25K, then some weights after, I think it's arms day. Currently I'm only getting out twice a week (when O has a class at the rec centre), but I need to add a 3rd or 4 th in there too, it's just hard to coordinate! Eating is generally not an issue for me, it's just getting off my lazy bum and finding the time. I like sleep.

  • I did Week 6 day 3 of C25k this morning but I'm going to have to repeat. My last few runs I keep getting side cramps. I push on for awhile but haven't been finishing, which is frustrating. I did arms and and afterwards.

I'm down 15 lbs, though and feeling a ton better about how I look.

Any suggestions on the cramps? I usually run first thing in the morning so not eating before.

@atxfoodie are you well hydrated? Not drinking enough water can cause you to cramp up.

@atxfoodie may be way off base here, but perhaps you're dehydrated, or not getting enough potassium?  Also do you stretch, it's important to stretch.  It depends on who you ask, but I like stretching after I'm done running.
  • @atxfoodie are you well hydrated? Not drinking enough water can cause you to cramp up.

Yeah, I think you're probably right. It's already so hot here so I need to amp up my water intake everyday.

  • @NotSharknado‌ yep :) are you liking it?
Yes! But how do I lock the seat in place? I have to keep pulling the cord to keep the seat upright,
  • @atxfoodie‌ I had to redo a bunch of week 5 because of cramping. It helped me to drink more water and time my food intake pre-run better. Also breathing like pp's said. It's frustrating but was just a temporary stumbling block for me. Also, what about slowing your pace or taking a walk break? GL!

  • I am starting to turn a corner and second tri is in sight, so I've been feeling much better with my workouts.  Although the last two times I've run I've felt some "side stitch," which I didn't have while running in my last pregnancy (I think the last time I felt it was running track in high school!) I tried focusing on my breathing and stopping to stretch but it didn't go away.  I guess it's a common symptom in the first tri?

  • I am doing okay - slacked a little on Sunday with only doing 20 minutes instead of my usual 40-60 (cumulative) on the weekend days. I'm doing pretty well with eating, thought not as well as I'd like - still too much sugar).

I don't have a scale to weigh myself, but I have definitely lost some fat around my midsection and maybe my thighs. Some of my old clothes are slowly starting to fit again :D

Yes! But how do I lock the seat in place? I have to keep pulling the cord to keep the seat upright,

Hmm I didn't have this problem. I wonder if they've changed the design? What style cord is it?

I figured it out. I had to pull cord and snap the clasp closed. I feel dumb now :|
  • I started week 4 of Focus T25 this week. Last night I did pretty well in the Alpha cardio. Tonight is Total Body Circuit, and a run. I did terrible last weekend eating wise. My MIL was in town, said some terrible things, and I ate my weight in food, and snacks. I felt terrible.

  • I was doing Insanity during lunch 3-4 times a week with a group of girls at work. We did it religiously for like 3 months, and then schedules changed, sickness happened, and we stopped. After like a 2 month break from doing any exercise, I finally went over to the gym alone today and did the elliptical. I did it for 30 minutes. I was surprised I made it that long, but it really wasn't too bad. Hopefully, I can keep it up.

  • So far so good on the weather front, not a cloud in the sky. Just waiting for H to get home so M and I can go run.

  • @MrsEll‌ , I think most of us just check in here every couple days. Have you tried MFP? I believe most of us only utilize it for the food logging, not the message boards. It is a snap, especially once you use it for a bit and if you tend to eat the same stuff. It probably doesn't even take up 5 minutes if my day
