High-Risk Pregnancy

Low amniotic fluid, low baby weight

I am 26 weeks and went in today for a growth ultrasound. My dr told me that my baby is on the small side only weighing 1 lb 13 oz, low amniotic fluid levels and I'm measuring a week smaller than I am. He said he wasn't worried right now about me measuring small, but I do have another ultrasound scheduled for 3 weeks to make sure she's growing and the fluid levels are ok. He said that I could end up having to see a high risk ob, I was wondering if anyone else had anything similar.

  • I didn't experience this but I would try to make an appointment with a MFM before the next ultrasound.  Things can change so fast in pregnancy so it is always better to be on the overly cautious side.

  • I also had low fluid and a small baby. I am currently 38 weeks so please try not to worry to much. We found out about the low fluid around 30 weeks. I have been going to MFM twice a week since then. Once a week for a stress test and once a week for an ultrasound. Fluid stayed low the entire time but never went to dangerous enough levels where they had to do a C-Section early. Our baby boy is still on the small side but they expect that he will make it to 6lbs by the time he join us.
  • Thank you. I've been trying to drink more water, everything I've read said staying hydrated will increase fluid...hopefully it will can't hurt to try right? And I've also been trying to eat more protein, my dr said protein will help her to grow.
