not pooping

so... baby hasn't pooped going on 3.5 days. she is a little over 3 weeks i think she is going through a growth spurt. she's passing a ton of gas and is behaving regularly. when should i worry/call the pediatrician?

is your baby BF or on formula?  around 3-6 weeks, babies stop pooping all the time and may only poop 1-2x a week.  (those are usually explosions!)  my LO never went that many days without pooping but he went from pooping every hour to every other day.  as always, call the pedi if you are concerned.  you may be able to clear things up on the phone and not have to take her in.  GL!

i will see how today goes. i'm not super worried - i did read that babies can slow down on their pooping at this time. i'm FTM ... don't know when to freak out

My LO frequently goes days without pooping. Our doctor says it's perfectly okay, but these are things that should worry you: bad colors (red, white, black), baby is straining and shows pain, when they do poop it is very solid instead of the normal loose/liquidy).

My LO is 7 weeks, EBF and only poops once a week. The rest of the time she just let's out a ton of nasty farts!

@juniper75 - yes tons of nasty farts here too.  she finally pooped yesterday. YAY!  thanks for the advice ladies

No kidding. I actually mark her poops on my fridge calendar so I can keep track and make sure she doesn't go too long. The calendar used to track fun things like plans to go out - now I track poop...lol

This is so helpful! I was about to ask the same thing! my LO is 4 weeks today and has gone 4 days but she is acting totally normal. Thank goodness for BTDT moms on here to ease our poor FTM minds!

Since she's breastfeed she may only go once a week. You can try the q-tip method- put a ton of Vaseline on a baby q-tip, insert a tiny bit into the anus and swirl it around a bit. It usually helps my baby when he hasn't gone for a week or so. Sometimes there's a little blockage or the poop is too big for him to pass. I read about it on several blogs and it really does work. May take 24-48 hrs but it works.
