How much tide to start? And initial wash routine.

I hope we'll be starting to wash our CD's here in a few days or so (40w3d). I want to make sure we start out with a good routine. So my questions are as follows:

1. How much tide powder to use? We plan to wash EOD, and I have a LG HE FL that is fairly new. Our water is pretty normal, and its well water.

2. I know I need to do a rinse, hot wash + rinse, extra rinse. I have options for either a rinse & spin only or a "quick wash" that I could use as my initial rinse cycle. Is one better than the other? I also have a "water plus" option for all the cycles. Should I use that to start?

We have mostly prefolds & fitteds, with a few simplex AIO's and Kawaii P&N's.

Thanks!

  • I'll only be a little helpful since I don't have an HE machine. Here's what I know:

I would recommend using your "quick wash" for your initial rinse as it will help get more pee/poo out than just soaking and draining with a rinse & spin.

Since you have a "water plus" option, I would recommend using it as many people with HE machines seems to have trouble getting enough water.

I use tide to the 1 line.
I do the rinse and spin, with extra rinse.
I don't use a water plus option (don't even know if I have it) but lg seems to be one that we get a lot of questions regarding. GL!

  • I like to do the quick wash because it changes the water out a couple of times so you're kind of getting two rinses for the price of one.

  • We use just under the 1 line on the scoop, but we're mostly washing flats & covers and pockets.
