6 weeks - Enlarged Ovary

Having some abdominal pain yesterday and after visiting the OB I was informed that I have an enlarged ovary (left) & an ovarian cyst on my left ovary. Anyone experienced this before? I am trying not to google this and freak myself out too much.

Re: 6 weeks - Enlarged Ovary

  • Yep, like calindi said, this is very common in women who undergo fertility treatments. I am pregnant as the result of an IVF cycle (about 7 weeks) and both of my ovaries are still enlarged and covered with cysts. My doctor's biggest concern is that physical activity could lead to ovarian torsion so I am still not allowed to exercise yet. You might want to take it easy on any physical activity that requires lots of twisting or bending, but if your doctor wasn't concerned or didn't give you any specific instructions I would try not to worry about it. Keep an eye on how you feel and if anything changes or you have more concerns, give the office a call.

  • I had 5 very large cysts the cycle before my BFP. After about 2 months of being on "the bench" (aka, not being on any fertility meds) they resolved on their own. I hope you find relief from the pain!
