WWYD I need advice please

I am 11w2d pregnant and had my most recent doctor's appointment this morning. There has been a small amount of blood showing up on the ultrasound in my uterus. The doctor said more often than not these leads to nothing and is about the same size as last time or a little smaller. He said it is up to us if we want to tel people or wait until my next appt in 4 weeks. I do not think I can keep hiding this for another month. I am really struggling hiding it at work, my clothes definitely are not fitting well and have had to bring out the belly band. We also have a bunch of family parties coming up for graduations where I am sure people will be able to know. The doctor said that his gut feeling in his heart of hearts is that everything will be fine and this will be a normal, successful pregnancy. I am really torn on what to do. Bottom line something could happen at anytime in any pregnancy though. Baby is growing fine and heartbeat is great. Do I tell or try to keep hiding it for another month?

Re: WWYD I need advice please

  • I am almost 15w and have had the same thing since I had an ultrasound at 6w. The doctor called it a subchorionic hemorrhage, but also said it is extremely normal and happens in many pregnancies and that it typically cures itself over time. This didn't happen with DS at all so it's all new to me! Last weekend I went to the hospital bc I had the tiniest amount of spotting and freaked out, but sure enough it was the same blood that was seen early on. We had an ultrasound and saw a beautiful baby growing right on track with a nice strong heartbeat. The doctor has reassured me many many times that everything is fine. So try not to freak out too much and enjoy your pregnancy!!

  • Sorry you are in such a stressful situation! I'm sure your OB is right and everything will be fine! That being said, I had a history of loss and was really nervous about telling anyone. I managed to hide it from my coworkers until about a week before my anatomy scan (around 19 weeks). I was definitely showing much earlier and I just let them assume I was getting fat. I complained about thyroid problems (which actually wasn't a lie, I'm hypothyroid). A few people told me they thought I was PG, but I blew it off. I wore lots of loose fitting sundresses. We told our families around 12 weeks and told them not to tell anyone.

  • Thanks ladies! @KateC1029‌ thank you for the piece of mind. You made me feel better than my doctor. I saw the one in my practice who tends to talk a lot and I am not sure the other doctors would have said what he did. Since you gave me the name of it I looked it up in my books and that research also really helped me feel better! I knew I came to the right place! @Myaflowers‌ and @ClaryPax‌ I give both of you credit for hiding your pregnancies for so long! That is impressive! Unfortunately I am very short and short waisted and even my blousy stuff looks funny. DH and I are going to talk it over and make a decision with the new information I have. I knew I came to the right place! You ladies rock!

  • I experienced that with this pregnancy and it didn't resolve itself until 18 weeks. We decided to go ahead and tell our family, some close friends, and those that needed to know at work. So far all has been well. It is more common than we think and rarely threatening to the baby especially if you have already made it this far without problems.

  • @emja0214, I'm not short, but I am very short waisted. I think many of my coworkers knew before I told them, but like I said I avoided the question and kept blaming it on my thyroid. Lol. I'm sure everything will turn out great for you, but don't feel pressured to tell coworkers before you're ready! Plus, it's kind of fun to have a secret and to make your coworkers wait! ;)

  • Sorry, catching up on older posts.  You might have already made your decision but at 11 weeks, I would tell. I would need my family and coworker's support, especially in a situation like yours.  But this is a really personal choice.  I hope that everything turns out okay for you and your LO.
