I usually don't post here bc you ladies intimidate me but I wanted to know your thoughts on Ryder. I like the y but is that considered "you-neek?" Thanks
It's NMS, but I think the "y" makes it look like a name. "Rider" doesn't look like a name to me. So if you like the way the name sounds, I say go with the "y"!
No, it is not youneek. Ryder is the common spelling of a common name.
It is really NMS, though. I would group it with the aggressively macho modern names for boys, which is a trend that bothers me. I think boys get too much pressure to conform to a rugged masculinity.
Ryder is better than Fisher, to me. I don't love Ryder but it's not awful. Fisher? Eh. It screams surname to me and Behind The Name doesn't even register it as a first name. Please don't use Fisher.
We won't be using Fisher, I vetoed it. It's still early but SO and I disagree on everything. Since we both like Ryder it's probably what we'll use.
I prefer it with a 'y'. Rider looks even less like a name. Ryder and Fisher are both NMS, but I like Fisher a little better. I'd keep looking though. How about Sullivan?
Ryder just seems low class to me. I'm going to dissent from the majority and say that I'd prefer Fisher to Ryder. I also like pp's suggestion of Sullivan.
My thoughts on Ryder: I really don't like it. At all.

I am fine with opinions and I know that's what I asked for but comments like yuck-o are dumb to me. I respect the people that just said nms or I don't like that. I also appreciate people who offered other options.
I like this but feel like the nn archie will be given and I don't like that.
My friend has a nephew named Archer, and I don't think anyone calls him Archie. I think we all know an Andrew that goes by Andrew, or James by James, etc, no nn's. It can be done, and I wouldn't let it keep you from using a name.
