Formula Feeding Question

I am EFF since week 3. We are now in week 5 & my LO is only pooping once every 36 hrs. Is this normal? Or is she constipated? She gets really fussy hours before she poops and nothing seems to help. After a big poop she seems happy as can be. We are not having any trouble spitting up. A little gassy and using gas drops, but I figure that is normal. Any advice or different formula recommendations?!

My LO wasn't pooping so we got switched to elecare for formula it is crazy expensive so I'd check with your pediatrician to see if you need it before you think about switching

DD poops once a day. Is it soft, normal baby poop? I remember with DD1, I asked her pedi because it seemed like she was really struggling to poop, but the doctor said that their little digestive systems are still learning, so it may appear that she is straining, but if her poop stayed soft it probably wasn't hurting her to go and she wasn't constipated.

LO Dr said not to worry if it's been less than 5 days.

Our doc said the same thing. She said the poop will come when the poop will come. (Within four days). She said a lot of formula fed babies poop every days and if that is regular for them it's nothing to worry about. Formula takes longer to break down than breast milk does. Our little man no longer poops everyday but is healthy and doing well. I had the exact same questions as you though before we went to the doctor yesterday.

Agree with pp, our pediatrician said every three days. My LO is 11 weeks old and I have seen a decrease in the frequency of bowel movements as he's gotten older. He goes about every 24-36 hours which is normal for him and they are soft. My pediatrician also said to watch for harder stools as that is indicative of constipation.
