LO Food

LO has been eating stage 3 jars for breakfast and lunch. I feel like since she is turning 1, she's a big girl and should eat more regular food. What is everyone making their LOs? Most of the things I can think to make her are all carbs. Apparently DH and I need to work on our own menus a bit.

She eats whatever we do, she hasnt had baby food since about 9 months. Breakfast is either toast, oatmeal or pancake, with some kind of fresh fruit. She loves berries and pears, cantalope, kiwi, peaches. I make eggs pretty frequently, too. Lunch is often a grilled cheese sandwich, or roasted turkey breast, with a veggie and yogurt or applesauce. She loves avocado slices. She loves soup, and will chow down on grilled cheese and tomato soup. I also make things like homemade broccoli mac and cheese, baked quinoa balls, pastas, ect for easy lunches. Dinner is whatever we eat. She loves chicken, fish, venison. I make roasted mixed veggies a lot and she likes that. I love to cook and have have always made meals every day, so she gets a variety of things.

My LO eats everything we do. Just start introducing her to the foods you eats. Since it is summer we eat a lot of fruit. That is pretty easy. Get a kids recipe book. I am sure that might spark some ideas.

I actually just made egg "muffins" that are a big hit. I shredded up some zucchini, mixed it in a bowl with eggs and shredded cheddar and poured into a muffin tin. Baked on 350 for about 20 mins. LO loves them.
I give him chicken nuggets almost everyday. I buy the Perdue Simply Smart ones.
He also likes yogurt, pancakes, Cheerios, waffles, these veggie muffins by Garden Delite (in the freezer section), Dr Pragers broccoli/potato pancakes, cereal bars, grilled cheese.

Same as everyone above, my LO eats whatever we eat. She can eat a whole banana for breakfast plus some Cheerios or an egg, etc... Avocados, fruit, tender meats (we had pot roast the other day & she loved it).

I have a q about grilled cheese - when I make it for myself I usually slather butter on the outside of the bread slices that get grilled....do y'all do that for your lo's or just grill plain bread? I haven't made that for her yet because I wasn't sure about all that butter...

We do the same as everyone as well. My suggestion is to just keep offering different foods even if they reject it in the beginning. My LO wouldn't touch cheeseburger but after the 4th time of offering she loved it. She also loves chicken sausage, any type of chicken, raviolis are her favorite , turkey meatballs, lasagna, grilled cheese , waffles with peanut butter. I love foods that I can hide veggies in like ; quesadillas , lasagna etc, however she's been eating a lot more veggies. When we have salads I dice up the veggies that are in it and she loves that.

We started offering veggies or meats to her first before putting other things on her plate that we know she will eat , that way she's hungry and will be more receptive to trying new things.

Trader joes makes these fruit and veggie pouches and she loves those for a snack. We also give her whatever we eat for dinner and if she is not a fan she'll get chicken nuggets, mozzarella, diced carrots and peas, and few other things I know she likes. Yogurts are our go to as well.

Funny, I was just coming on here to ask the same question.

Same as above for me, too.  However, I still keep a few jars of baby food on hand for when we go out, just in case there's nothing else he'll eat.  He loves peas, bananas, Cheerios, cheese sticks, mac and cheese, and chicken nuggets.  For dinner, I've been offering whatever we're having, which is hit or miss. My other two kids were very picky at this age, so I am hoping he's not the same way!

  • We are trying very hard to get off the pouches, but he is still limited on what table/finger foods he will eat.

What we will eat now (we usually can get one new thing added a week):

Sweet potato "fries" - these are his favorite, I cut them up, toss in olive oil and a little cinnamon and bake

    Cheerios

    Frozen waffles and pancakes

    yogurt

    oatmeal

    hamburger

    toast with PB

he ate pizza last night for the first time.

  • Rachel eats whatever we eat.  She still gets a pouch of fruit most days, but only because it's easy.

Yesterday she ate a blueberry waffle, half a piece of toast, a pouch of fruit, a metric butt ton of mac n cheese, a banana (in the grocery store), spaghetti and meat sauce, shredded cheese, honeydew and some blueberry bar.

When I make grilled cheese I put the butter into the pan, not directly onto the bread. So I don't change anything for E. And actually, we use I Can't Believe it's Not Butter. Flame away - a half a grilled cheese isn't going to kill my son, especially since we don't have it every day.

No flames here. Technically the "butter" in my fridge is Country Crock margarine. =) Perhaps i'll buy some real butter next time I'm at the store. I wish we had a trader joes, that store sounds amazing.

I just make grilled cheese in the toaster oven - no butter.
  • I don't put butter on that but I do for other things when I make her a sandwich.

What's healthy for them isn't necessarily healthy for us so although I don't eat a lot of butter, cream and cheese I make sure E gets them along with other fats such as Olive oil etc. My pedi wants her to have things like this along side veggies, fruits and meat.

  • Breakfast is either an omlette, pancakes, waffles.  Always with fresh fruit.  I also give a pouch just to make sure they got enough.  Sometimes they finish it, sometimes no.

Lunch is usually yogurt, Cheerios, and maybe cheese.

Dinner is whatever we are eating.  Again ill give a veggie pouch here just to make sure they got enough.  I give it at the end.

  • We did BLW an we started with scrambled eggs,
    toast,
    blueberries,
    cut up strawberries,
steamed veggie sticks (like really steamed),
    Pancakes
    Banana

They are really easy for babies to eat and C really loves all of them still.
