TTC in the fall!!

I'm so excited that I needed to share the news...my other half and I have finally decided that we will TTC this fall!!! We have been talking about it for months, but we finally came up with a time frame!! I know it could take awhile, but I'm just excited that we are going to start trying! Although he is still concerned that my dad will hate him because we aren't married...Has anyone had negative experiences from their parents about TTC before marriage?! Or does the bundle of joy over shadow the fact of being unwed?

Yes I am 29, my other half was married before, and I was engaged before, so to us, being married isn't a priority. My dad is just really old fashion and believes things should happen in a specific order. We are going to TTC regardless, I was just wondering if anyone else had been in the same position before. I will always be a daddy's girl and I just don't want to disappoint him that's all! But we are ready to start a family and I am sooooooo excited about it

My family didn't know we were TTC-- so-- just don't tell them you are?

If your dad says anything if and when you do become pregnant, then he's the ass (sorry!)

Also, and I know I am being a nit-picky jerk here, but the phrase is "old fashioned" not old fashion.  Just a peeve of mine.

OP, how old are you? Does the 85 in your username mean you're 29? Just a guess.

Regardless, if you're old enough to have sex/baby then you shouldn't be bothered if daddy is ok with it. If your dad is one to hold grudges and you two really are concerned with what his opinion is, your dad would probably be more disappointed in you. 

I don't have anything against a committed couple having a child before marriage, but I'm just curious as to why you're TTGP before you're married? Since your dad would be upset. (I am not trying to offend anyone, don't read too far into this. I'm just curious.)

STAAP.  Why should this be a concern to her if she's a grown woman?

If I took every family member's "feelings" into consideration before I did something, I would never do anything.

So long as OP and her SO can care for the child financially and provide a loving and safe home, there is no issue.

One of my sisters had a surprise pregnancy when she was 23 with her bf. My parents were somewhat upset because she wasn't married. But now my niece is 4.5, they still aren't married, and my parents really don't give a crap.

But in any case, it shouldn't matter what your dad thinks. You're an adult. I couldn't give a rats ass if two people were married, as long as that child is loved and wanted.
