We went to the pedi yesterday fir her 2 month checkup. I told her I thought she was teething, and the pedi confirmed it. She hadn't taken to Sophie or the teething rings yet, but the pedi recommended called Hylands as an alternative to oragel and Tylenol. They have a gel and tablets (tablets for when they are a little older). Haven't tried it yet, but thought I would pass along my pedi's recommendation.
I've seen baby oragel at target. Not sure if that's any good or if it's safe! Camden has his 4mo visit in 2wks...I'm going to ask his dr what he recommends so I can prepare! Pretty sure he's already starting...
You'll have to see how bothered your baby is by it. DS1 had a pretty tough time with teething but both of my nieces had a pretty easy time. One thing you can try is to wet a wash cloth, freeze it, then let them chew on it. Some kids will like that better than teething rings.
Tylenol and baby oragel worked wonders for my twins. They weren't huge fans of teething rings but did like the cold wash cloth to chew on. They didn't have Sophie because I refuse to buy it for that price

Pretty much all of this applied to my first as well, except he didn't like anything cold/icy.
I like Hylands because they're homeopathic and they don't have benzocaine. We bought the gel and tablets.
We already use the tablets (just 3 so far). We put it on our finger and hold it in her cheek until it dissolves. Then we give her the pacifier so she will suck and move it around.
the belladonna is a concern for the Hylands. I don't know anyone that's ever had a problem with it, but none of it is regulated. We used them for a while with LO #1, they were somewhat helpful. She had ZERO interest in teething toys (even a Sophie we got as a gift, which I hope did not end up at Goodwill!!) or too much cold stuff... In the end, we gave infant Advil and when it was really bad, used the ora-gel swabs.
First girl didn't cut a single tooth until 9 months... I'm curious to see if her sister is the same.
DD got her first tooth at 4 months. She preferred to just chew on her fingers. She was never fussy, I didn't know until I saw the teeth. She had a few teething toys for her molars which came in around 8 months. (She was very early on everything)
DS1 didn't use teethers either. He preferred his fingers. He got his first tooth at 8 months and is JUST getting his molars and canines at 18 months. I'd say he is 'mildly' fussy, but only periodically.
DS2 isn't showing any signs yet (11weeks). He can get his hand to his mouth, but rarely does.
I only gave DS1 Tylenol twice, both times at night when he was getting his second and third teeth because he was cra-nky!!! DD never got Tylenol.
I will not be buying Sophie, teething tablets or an amber necklace.
ETA: MIL bought baby Oragel for DS1 against my and DH's permission (we told her NO). Even the baby stuff says to not use except under the advice of a physician.
Happy to see this thread. Just ordered some teething toys as I'm pretty sure Sloan is teething already at 3 months. And her mouth is so small that Sophie doesn't fit. Ok so the ear does kinda.
I should probably clarify that my pedi said she is defiantly showing early signs of teething (and can see the teeth buds) but that she probably won't be cutting teeth for a couple of more months.
Thanks @babycaps! I don't think he's teething yet, but the drooling and hand gnawing have definitely picked up in the past week. I'm now calling him "Droolian".

@desertmouse39 - DD1 was another one to get her 1st tooth around 9 months. I'd be fine if DD2 did the same ;-)

I will try the washcloth !
