Oh no you didn't. Now WTF am I going to do until I can get my hands on some challah? If you want GLORIOUS french toast, make it with Alton Brown's recipie. His extra steps make all the difference and I have been told on multiple occasions that my french toast is the best people have had.

YES to all of the above about french toast.... NOM NOM NOM
@LTMama - sure thing! I didn't realize there were so many locals on this board...although I guess by nature, my idea of "local" is a pretty big area, given where we live. State lines / city lines...pshhh

in case some people like time zones and local area...add me to the EST, FTM, livin in the Old Dirty..aka Hampton Roads area, VA.
And...I like cold natty's on the beach, my couch and food. College sports fan and a sucker for celebrity train wreck gossip. I have one wiener mut dog and am a gingerish gal, but have my finger's crossed that my LO will indeed be born with a soul.
@MaggieG82...also in HR, but never heard it called that ha ha....;).
Edited: I also would like a buddy-not too picky! Time zone may be nice, but whatever. Another high risk Mama as well, if anyone is interested.

OK, break from work!
Have you tried he smitten kitchen baked french toast with challah? OMG, it is life-changing.
No, but the Alton Brown recipe does call for baking after it comes out of the skillet. Is the smitten kitchen one like a cassarole?
First off holy cow, this thread took off and now I really really want Waffle House hashbrowns. Not sure I can convince DH that should be our dinner before we go to our birthing class! Though @mrsdaniellem2010 Cracker Barrel's hashbrown casserole is AMAZING. Hands down my favorite.
2nd Completely jealous of all of you with an Original Pancake House. They closed ours a year ago and it just hasn't been the same. Best pancakes EVAR!
And @deviousmuse I'm in Jacksonville and will probably be here forever.
Finally! My September Siggy Challenge: TV Show I'll Be Binge Watching

Tell me about it - around here, "local" can mean so many things, haha. Sounds like we need a GTG at some point, too!
We should just have a labor buddies group for local ladies.

I'm definitely interested but want to echo what @lindsayhilleary and @kateitho said: I would also prefer a fellow PgALer. Thanks for building the awareness, @mrsdaniellem2010
Ditto! I'm in, but if possible would prefer to be paired with a fellow PgALer.
I just read through 144 post, 90% which were about breakfast foods. And damn me for ordering pizza for lunch because all I want now is Original Pancake House or IHOP.
We used to have a local Waffle House when I was a kid, and I loved it. They shut it down probably 15 years ago, though. The only other time I've had it was on the way to Florida, and it didn't compare to what we had here.
We used to go to Waffle House all the time, but then one sad day, I found a dead fly under my waffle (not exactly sure why I even lifted it, I usually dive right in, but thank god I did). I'm guessing it was a timing issue for that fly, like it was alive on the plate, then BAM hot waffle.
This makes me so sad. For the fly, for the waffle, and for you.
@ham0216oh really? That's cool. I have a few friends up there. Do you ever go to Spirited Art? That's one of my buds from college. I used to do the Monte Sano art show, too, but now I just let my gallery do that for me.
I haven't been there, but am always hearing about it & how fun it is - I definitely need to check it out.. it's literally right by me. That's also awesome you showed your art around here! Have you ever been to or shown here at the Panoply festival? We went for the first time last month - it was pretty neat.
I had ZERO thoughts about pancakes and now I MUST have some American pancakes before going out of the country or I will be thinking about them the entire trip. This BMB has magical food powers.
If you take me with you, I will be your personal chef and make all the American style pancakes you want :-D

@PeopleKnowMe - I'm not too far from Scranton, I'm about two hours away but in NY (an hour west of Binghamton in the finger lakes). We have family that have a lake cottage outside of Scranton.
FWIW - I'm having a home birth, which I think there may be one or two others around here?

Because of this thread I had to stop by Publix on my way home from work... We are now having pancakes AND french toast for dinner. And I may or may not have also picked up macadamia nut as well as turtle cookies for dessert... It was 2 for $5 so I had to. I've seriously been dreaming of breakfast food all day - This thread alone is just another reason why I love this board
I want in on this, I'm all for groups of three or four! I'm an Air Force Wife and FTM, I live in Georgia. I know how to romance ya, Long walks on the beach and candlelight dinners where nothing but breakfast carbs are served

I don't know. Not a bad way to go, death by hot waffle.

Ok, that's it...working from home today, so now definitely making some pancakes:) @crystalangel79 Enjoy both stateside and your (truly) international pancakes! Have a safe and wonderful trip

We are not too far apart, I'm in upstate NY too. We had been considering a home birth but ultimately dh was uncomfortable with that so I am now with a midwifery group that does hospital deliveries.

DH and I drove to Scranton last year for the office wrap party. Ain't no party like a Scranton party.
Never been to Waffle House either! But I do love IHOP has browns. I have never been to a Cracker Barrel
either.
I am interested in labor buddies.
Live in north NJ but not set on it being local.
