Baby Names

Nevaeh, meet Alucard

My BFF recently came to visit me. She is now an OR nurse in Tucson. Even though she is child free by choice, she is totally into baby names. She told me that one of her patients had had a baby, who was still up in the NICU, or wherever, and that she had a chance to see the baby's name on the patient lists. The baby's name was Alucard. That is Dracula backward, people!

I finally had a chance to search the whole beyond the top 1000 for the ssa to see if it was possible before I posted. And there it was, Alucard. There were 8 of them born last year. WTAF?! Who are these people who name their sons backwards Dracula? This is truly the worst I've encountered.

  • Amazing.

I'm terrible at spotting the backwards names in the data. I did find Traeh (6 girls), but that's the only one at the moment.
  • Yikes!

  • No!

I can't think of anything else to add. Just NO!

Am I the only who who'd rather be "dracula" backwards than "heaven" backwards? I'm not religious, so that may explain my preference.
    You are not alone :)
Support for this too. And to answer the OP's question, the people who are naming their kids these things, are the same people who are naming their kids things like Salem, Raven, Casper, Bela, Boris, etc....People who are Halloween/horror fans, most likely. I don't think I would choose Alucard, but as a total Halloween and horror movie nut - I could see why someone would.
