I've been doing them daily since my daughter was born 10 years ago. They did help tighten "things" up a lot after giving birth. I was hoping it would help more with leaking urine though but it never did. I guess that's a gift I have to live with for the rest of my life.
I incorporate them into yoga poses...if I just try to do it while watching tv or something it makes me feel antsy. Idk why, I just want to jump up and shake it off. I wonder how many you're supposed to do for it to make a difference?
I have only been doing them here and there when I think about it....there was a "daily tip" thing on my What to Expect app this morning about doing them....so it got me thinking.
SS. Sex is hard enough with how tight I am, so if I ever want to have it again, I'm not doing them. Maybe later. I should do them because we haven't had sex in like 10 weeks.
You may be tight because the pelvic muscles are weak and are trying to overcompensated compensate and end up just causing the tightness. Kegels can also work to teach the muscles to relax. Just focus more on the relax part between the gentle squeezes.

I don't know. I just know sex hasn't ever worked out too well, no matter how lubricated I get. My doctors never said anything about weakness, but I'll look it up and see.
It may not be a lubrication issue, but a muscle issue. (Do you also have pain with the tightness?) It took me seeing about 4 gynecologists before I was diagnosed and sent to a PT who specializes in pelvic floor (and I also moved to an area with hospitals that are well known on a national level). ...and BTW, they walk you through a number of things and exercises to help, not just Kegels. It wasn't the easiest for me to go to the PT because I'm a very private person, but the therapy is the only reason we were able to get to the point we could even have sex and it still has it's issues. You may potentially have vulvadynia or vaginismous or something along those lines (more common than you may realize because women don't tend to talk about it).
Also, forgot to mention that Kegel exercises are one way to increase muscle strength and decrease weakness.Think about other muscles in your body that are somethings weak and how they can hurt or become tight or spasm when used. Your pelvic floor is just another set of muscles.
I can only speak from my experience but I hope something I said may help and that you'll talk more to your doctor and if he/she dismiss it that you'll search for a second opinion. Depending on your insurance you may even be able to see a pelvic floor PT without a referral from a doctor.
You can always PM me if you are interested. I'm currently back in PT because pregnancy made everything tighten up and increased pain and slowly but surely PT is helping again.
@AeandJb I'm remembering that you also have scoliosis so I understand you've been to many PTs. I've had some chronic issues and havr been tired of going to new medical professionals and skeptical because of prior bad experience. You could always go snd in your mind say I'll give it 2 visits. If it is as terrible as I think it will be I'll stop. The PT I went to also gave additional exercises and stretches that work muscles that provide a base for the pelvic floor muscles. Anyway, best of luck to you. I understand it's frustrating and no fun to have issues with sex when it seems like no one else has those issues.
SS here. First off, I don't really know how to do them...when I do, I feel like I'm not doing it right. Second, my ob told me not to. Not really sure why but will be asking when I go back in a couple of weeks as my yoga instructor said I should do them.
