Pregnant after IF

Ladies I need some advice, job related............

Good morning ladies, I'm in a little bit of a dilemma and need some advice.

I started my current job last November and was hired for 32 hours with benefits.  I used to work 40 hours but this job at 32 hrs pays more than what I used to make full time so I was not complaining about an extra day off during the week.  My hours are pretty flexible and I usually take Monday or Wednesday as my day off.  It has been convenient for Dr's appointments and stuff.   When I was hired they told me there is always the possibility to pick up 8 more hours at a different location.

So the day finally came yesterday.  My manager told me the regional manager asked if I would be interested in picking up 8 more hours in another location 10 mins away from where I work now.  This morning the regional manager called and spoke to me about the job.   If I wasn't preggo I would have totally said yes.  But now that I'm expecting this LO things are a little different.

She asked me to let her know by this Friday.  I have my NT scan next Wednesday and wish I could have a few more days to think about it.   Or it would've been easier if my NT was today instead of a week from today.   I haven't seen this LO since 7 weeks and would have more assurance this pregnancy is gonna go well at my next US.

WWYD? TIA!

I'd explain that I need a few days to think about it because I had some presonal things going on right now and I'd ask if they'd give you some aditional time to make a decision.

  • I would say for medical reasons you would feel more comfortable waiting for some test results to come back to give them an answer, I'm sure they will appreciate that. I would say medical reasons instead of personal reasons just because when I was a manager, I was more understanding to medical things than personal things. It's also only 8 hrs so I'm sure they would wait or maybe you could ask about taking the extra day on a temporary basis until your results come back. Good luck!
  • Unless the extra money would really make a difference or you simply want to be working the 40 hours a week, I would turn it down. You're far enough along now that things are looking favorable and if for some reason they aren't, would you want to jump into working the extra day? I personally wouldn't and would want the free day for next steps and emotional healing. I say this coming from someone who has always worked the 40 hour week or more. If I had the option, I would take the extra day for sure. As you progress in your pregnancy your body will appreciate it!
