TTC after 35

Starting 1st round of Clomid next month

So I will be doing my first round next month because I missed my opportunity this month. I'm so excited but definitely nervous as well. I already have an 18 month old n I'm nervous about possibly being sick. But I am hoping to get pregnant with multiples. It would be a great way to end my last pregnancy. Any advice or kind words of encouragement?

Re: Starting 1st round of Clomid next month

  • I hope this will be monitored cycles. Unfortunately when I did my clomid cycles I did it unmonitored, but I didn't know any better. I wasn't a bumpie yet. Clomid didn't make me sick I was evil and very moody DH said. What did u use in ur previous pregnancy if u needed assistance?

This.  And multiples are generally not the goal because it greatly increases the risk of complications.

If you are properly monitored you can reduce your chances of mulitples.

  • Multiples are not my goal. Multiples to me would just be a bonus. My goal is to have a healthy baby sooner rather than later or not at all. I haven't used anything in the past just ovulation test. What do you mean by "monitored"? I went to my GYN dr yesterday and he offered me the clomid and just told me to start on the fifth day of my cycle.
  • There are side affects to using clomid that could be detrimental to your reproductive health. I wouldn't use it unless you are monitored by your OB/GYN or a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE). It could thin your lining and/or you could develop cysts.

Do a little googling and you'll find plenty of info on clomid. Good luck!

I had this same experience when TTC #2. Not monitored and very moody. This time, I'm going working with an RE to make sure that whatever steps are taken I am monitored. Take care of yourself and wishing you the best of luck.

  • I just started my second month on Clomid this morning. I didn't have many side effects last month other than feeling bloat-y and some headaches but that may have been in my head (imagining all those eggs growing).

I'm seeing an RE, so they've been doing regular ultrasounds to be sure that hyper-stimulation (way too many eggs) or any of the complications mentioned above don't happen. I might ask your OBGYN if they can do an US to monitor you, or if not, DEFINITELY call a dr immediately if you are feeling ill. Side effects can signal serious health problems and my RE will only do 6 total Clomid cycles due to the risk of permanent vision and repro damage. Be safe.

All that said, I hope that you get the BFP that you want quickly and wish you the best!!!!
