I know. I'm the goober who jokingly said getting a catheter and being able to pee without getting out of bed was the best part of having a baby. Oh the irony, since mine this time around gave me nothing but trouble.
I knew something was different before my spinal even fully wore off, because this time I could feel the catheter and it was uncomfortable. It became very achy and actually hurt when it was removed. It took me several hours to be able to pee again even though I felt an urge, and even after I could pee, I couldn't completely empty my bladder. I had spasms that made the flow stop and start, and the stopping HURT. My bladder and urethra ached so badly I could barely walk for about half a day.
I thought the problem resolved right before I left the hospital, but then yesterday afternoon I started having difficulty emptying again, and by last night I was feeling the burn.
Today I'm on Macrobid and feeling much better, but cripes. Lesson learned. Next time I'm not cracking jokes about serious medical procedures!
