Growth ultrasounds at MFM

How accurate do they usually end up being? I'm 37 weeks and just had my last scan before delivery. They are both measuring exactly the same at 6lb 10oz, which just seems really big to me, but what do I know. Is there any chance it's way off?

Not that it doesn't FEEL like I'm carrying 13lbs of baby, cuz it certainly does!

I had a growth scan today and they said the margin of error is +/- 8 oz with the MFM.  Growth scans not with MFM I think have a much bigger error rate (like 2 lbs each way).  They also are only gaining about 1/4-1/2 a lb per week now.  I am almost 36 weeks, and my girls are measuring 5lbs 2oz and 5lbs 4oz.  The MFM thinks that, calculating in the possibility of error, by my C-section next Thursday they will each be between 5.5 and 6 lbs.

You can ask your MFM what their margin of error is. Depending the location we get it done it's either +/- 10 or +/- 14 ounces.

Growth scans aren't particularly accurate in 3rd tri...I don't think that an MFM doing it would make a difference really. Late growth u/s can be off by a bunch (2lbs in either direction) because measurements are based off bones not the muscle and baby fat...that's how it was explained to me.

I have tall skinny babies so they were off for all three kids. With DD we were told 9lbs, she was less than 7lbs. With the twins we were told about 7lbs each...they were 6 and 6.9. All my growth scans both pregnancies were done by the same tech with the same equipment.

Had one 5 days before delivery; baby A was measuring 8 pounds and Baby B was measuring 7 lbs. 1 oz. They were born 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 5 lbs. 13 oz.
