Cost of formula?

Out of curiosity if I did stop breastfeeding, what does formula cost everyone per month?

Re: Cost of formula?

  • Depends in generic or not. I spend about $75 on generic I would say.

I use Targets brand, so we spend about $60 a month. If I had stayed with Similac, it would have been about $80

We use a large container every 7-10 days, and they're about $25 apiece. So, about $75-100/month. Oh, and that's for the generic version of Similac Advance.

  • We use Gerber Protect which is about $25 for a tub, although they often have larger tubs labeled at 25% more Free, and Wally World has even bigger ones for the same price. With twins we probably spend around $150-$200.

  • make sure to get on the mailing list of the formula brands.  Similac sends us $5 coupons (usually 2 or more at a time) every now and then.  Every bit helps.

  • This may sound silly too.  But as our babies are getting closer to 1 year in theory they will start taking in more solids and less BM/Formula?  So if I started to supplement around month 10 I probably wouldn't need much?

Pumping is the bane of my existence.  I don't know If I can keep it up at work all summer long.  Trying to justify the cost of formula is hard for me though.

  • On average we go through a 2lb tub of Parents Choice Gentle a week.  We pay $22-$23/tub.  So about $90ish a month.  Only about 5 months left for us (DS2 just turned 7 months on the 23rd).

  • We use Enfamil A.R and we buy a box that has 2 big refill bags. Usually 3 of the refill bags will last us the whole month it just depends on the month really. 1 box is about $35 but I try to use coupons so I will get a box for around $30. Average is $60 a month for us.
  • We've been using the Kirkland brand and it's $15.99 for a 2.5 pound tub. We spend about $48/month. It's comparable to Similac advance.

  • I stock up on Up and Up when it's on sale, and I have the Red Card, so I spend about $75 a month.

  • We use Enfamil Gentlease through the Subscribe and Save option of Amazon.  I think the "package" I order is between $120-$125 and that normally lasts us a month.

$90-130 a month we buy similac sensitive at costco.

She lasts about 10 days on a can but growth spurts and development spurts ad a flux to things.

$24 per container of Gerber Gentle and he eats about 29oz. currently. That makes approx. $120 per month. Gah! Add diapers and wipes for two kids and I'm not surprised at our grocery bills anymore!

It took me way longer than it should have to do the math on that. To be fair, I actually calculated how long one container lasts us, but still! My brain is fried.

Yep, DD was down to three 6oz bottles at 10 months and then even less within a few weeks to nothing at a year :)

We just started complete formula and it seems 2-3 cans a week (the smaller ones). We use Similac, if we buy the big cans which we will start they are $33 a piece so prob about $100/month.

  • We use Similac Advanced.  He goes through about 6 or 7 $25 tubs a month.  He eats a whole lot though.
