Changing Bedtime Schedule

Has anyone's LO's bedtime been on the fritz lately? LO has been silly, delusional tired by 630 when bedtime is 8. I keep putting him down at 8 but now he's waking up earlier and earlier. Today he got up at 630, that might not seem early but this is the earliest he has gotten up in months! He's always up after 7, normally closer to 8. Just curious if this is just a phase he might be going through or if I should make my bedtime a tad earlier!

Bedtime hasn't really been any different for us lately, but wake up time has. It sounds like we have had pretty much the same bedtime/wake up schedule as you. Bedtime for us is 8 or a little before. For months, DD was consistently sleeping through the night and getting up around 7:30, give or take 15 minutes. For the past couple of weeks she has been getting up closer to 6. I have no idea why. I am hoping it is just a phase!

Is there a reason that you are keeping him up until 8 when he is really tired at 6:30? If DD is especially tired we put her to bed early. Sometimes I need to go to bed early so I figure she does too. DD hasn't gone to bed early recently but she has been waking up early and in the middle of the night for the last week or so.

  • @JessAnnJ Although he's tired, he's not cranky or fussy or anything like that. If he was then I would put him down the second I thought his mood was going sour but since he's just goofy silly tired, we play until 715 and then start our bedtime routine. I'm trying not to change his usual schedule if he's just in a funk. Don't get me wrong I do lay him down early if I think he needs it but most of the time it doesn't end well. I end up taking him out and having quiet time with him until his bedtime.
  • Not judging, when I read delusional tired it just sounded really tired so I was curious.

DD has recently been crying when we put her to bed even though I know she is tired. It's either her teeth or she's going through some sort of transition that is affecting her sleep.

DS's been doing that, too and I'm zonked today due to the early wake up call!  I had to put him down at 7:30 instead of his usual 8 tonight because of the crack of dawn routine and now I'm thinking I'll just hit the hay earlier than usual tonight in anticipation of the early rise.  I'm hoping it's a one off sort of situation.

Yep, it messes the whole day up because mine at least, needs another short nap. It is hard to plan anything because I never know when she is going to need to sleep. Today she didn't get up until almost 7, so I can probably push her through to get just the one nap. Very frustrating, but I am glad it isn't just us.
