DH and I went with a couple of friends to a baseball game today. DH took advantage of my auto-DD status and got piss drunk. He's been sleeping on and off since 6:00 and just puked his face off. I wasn't really annoyed about any of this until I went to McDs for impromptu dinner and just got home to find COLD FRIES.
    Cold fries? Boooooo!

  • My bitch of the day:

FU ticks in our backyard.  I found one on DD yesterday.  It seemed to have just jumped on because I put her down for a minute, she wandered off, came back, and there it was just hanging out on her neck.  It hadn't started to burrow yet, but we still had to use tweezers to get it off.  Ugh.  I wouldn't be so annoyed if ticks carrying lyme disease weren't the norm around here, but they are.

I just want to be able to sick in my backyard while DD plays and not worry about this.  We have a spray that can be applied to clothes and go through several washes that is supposed to help, but I'm going to look into an actual yard spraying service too.
Ugh, it's the worst. We pulled one off of DS a couple weeks ago and now every time he goes outside he gets paranoid he's going to end up with more ticks on him.
  • The air conditioning went in my 2010 CRV yesterday afternoon. All of my googling is really infuriating and it looks like it could be upwards of $3600 to fix and is a common problem (or only the people who bitch a lot post about their air conditioners online).

It's also supposed to thunderstorm today so i won't be able to drive with my windows open. Fanfuckingstastic.

DH's AC went in his 2008 Civic a year or two ago...I forget what they said it was, but I remember it cost about $1500 and was a common issue with that model. I swear I think they do stuff like that on purpose sometimes. It's not a safety issue so they don't have to recall it but they want to get people to dump money into fixing it. :P
  • @ghostof5letters - could it just need a coolant re-charge?  wishful thinking maybe, but possibly worth a shot first just so you wouldn't have to lay so much cash out?  that's a lot of money :(

it's the pits when that happens - my DH had to drive my VW golf for an entire summer without airconditioning (plus the vents wouldn't shut off, so it was just blowing hot air fromt the engine into the car), and i felt so, so bad...the car was only worth $1500 at the time, so we basically just traded it in as-is, but a 2010 is a totally different story!!

Have you guys looked into couples counseling? You do seem to have a LOT to say every week about how he is coming up short, maybe you two would benefit from talking to a professional to help sort out some of your problems? Especially before throwing a baby into the mix.
I have actually thought about this in the past before DS was born and I wish I would have done it then. Right now, we have no one to watch DS (or another baby). Our closest family is about 40 minutes away and I wouldn't really want family involved in this anyway. We don't really trust a stranger (babysitter) to watch our children and we don't really have the money to pay someone anyway. So I don't know. I think we would benefit from individual counseling, but its so difficult to find the time with working full time and taking care of one child, not that DH would go for it anyway.

Now you sound like a lazy excuse maker. Suck it up, princess. Marriages take work, and it doesn't sound like you're bringing anything to the table.

Hi five for car troubles. Mine wouldn't start this morning and my husband already left for work and so did the neighbors. We're stuck. I'm in prison. ;)

I doubt it. It wasn't a gradual decrease in temp, it was a BAM suddenly hot hair mid-drive type of situation. That leads me to believe something is busted.

We got sprayed on Friday.  The weekend before I pulled a tick out of DS1's back before giving him a bath on Saturday.  On Sunday afternoon there was one crawling across his face as he stood in our kitchen. That was the last straw. I was so fnnn done.  We live in lyme country and these were tiny deer ticks. I feel sorry for the bees, but my kid comes first.  We and 2 other neighbors brought out the chemical truck to spray the crap out of our hood.

    I say it's the compressor.

But seriously, between the two of you, which is just a super small sampling of the population, I'm kinda pissed that DH doesn't usually freelance this shit.  He's a refrigeration mechanic so he works on the refrigerated trucks for life, but now I totally want him to quit his job and just fix peoples' cars.  He put air conditioning in my car years ago (don't judge me for buying an older base model) and it was the best present ever ever ever.

    Sad panda.
