Advice and experiences

With my first son I had an unplanned c-section. My water broke at 38w2d and after 16 hours of labor and then 3 hours of pushing his head was sunny side up and cocked to the side despite multiple doctors trying to reposition him. I started having issues with my asthma and heart rate so I had to have a c-section.
This time I've had the success assessment and got a 61% but my baby's head is measuring in the 97th percentile. I would really like to try and have a VBAC if I go into labor naturally before my scheduled csection date but I'm terrified to be unsuccessful and have to have another unplanned csection since my husband is deployed and it will just be me and my mom with my 18/19 month old and newborn.
Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.
The OB I've been seeing tends to push csections but for my 36 week appointment I will be seeing the doctor who performed my first csection and he is supposed to be pro-VBAC. I'm still extremely nervous and worried about the risks and unplanned csection recovery.
