After BD ... Maybe TMI

I was just curious what you ladies do after BD. Do you lay there for awhile and let it marinate or do you get up quickly and clean up?
I tend to get up and sometimes pee. To be honest, "the juice" grosses me out even though I know it's so important in this process.
Just wondering what other ladies do. ;)
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!! :)

I stand on my head for 15 minutes.
    Just kidding.
I do try to lay in bead for about 15 minutes though. Last week I had to pee so bad after I got up as soon as we finished and felt something trickle down my leg. It grossed me out so bad because I wasn't sure if it was our juices (as you put it) or if I peed myself.

I know it only takes the little swimmers a few minutes to get through the cervix so anything that may come out after is usually just fluid. But I still like to give them a 15 min head start before I clean up.

I'm glad I'm not the only one grossed out by "the juices!" I lay there for about 20 minutes (with a pillow under my butt just in case they need gravity to help them out). I usually ask DH to get me a towel before I get up so I can shove it between my legs. I do not like the feeling of it trickling down my legs. It's so gross I can't even believe I'm typing this.

Lol! I lay there for about 15 minutes not to let it marinate, (haha) but because my H Ilikes to cuddle afterward...I know aww...and though I appreciate his effort of no wham bam thank you mam..usually by then I'm dying to pee...maybe it helped keep the "juices" in and I didn't realize it. Oh I have small garbage can and baby wipes to clean a little because I hate the running down my leg on the way to bathroom! Hahahaha..TMI !!

I lay there for as long as possible. I tell hubby it's to increase the odds but honestly it is not for anything else but for me time. Working two jobs, and caring for a toddler, two rabbits and a dog, while trying to keep the house in order, I take any rest I can get. :D

I like to lie there for 15mins or so, but I also like to pick a tactical spot on the bed for the wet patch :)

I'm not really grossed out by any of it, but generally need to pee.

I rest (and tilt my pelvis a bit just to avoid leaking). I've read arguments both ways. But, I figure if my RE thinks there's a chance it helps - and I assume he does since I can't sit up for 15 minsafter anIUI - it's worth a shot. Plus, I find I leak less after that time.

July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)

    Best typo/Freudian slip ever!

I feel totally OCD now, but I lie with my hips on a pillow for 30 minutes. Sometimes I do a ridiculous bicycle-legs thing I read about somewhere (exercise at least, right?). "Marinating" that long leads to leakage. DH and I joke that if someone took a black light to our bed at the end of FW, it would look like the scene of a horrible, horrible crime.

I love a TMI post! I also try to lay fairly still for at least 15 minutes (but I probably usually only make it for 10!) For a while we did the pillow under the butt thing, and sometimes my DH would even grab my legs straight up in the air and give them a few shakes up and down, as if to force the sperm in the right direction! I just don't understand the wetness factor. All the books say that a typical ejaculation is only about a teaspoon full. If that's the case, then why is there such a mess?! I know it's not mostly me! Also, what bugs me (as we're all hobbling to the bathroom for clean-up on aisle two) is when you watch a movie where a couple has a hot hook-up somewhere outside of the bedroom (like a bar bathroom or office or something) where they just drop their drawers, do the dirty, then go on with their day. That is SO unrealistic! Sorry, I just had to add my vent! :)

No, odd man out here but I do not just lay there unless we are holding each other, kissing, etc.  Typically it takes a few minutes but then I go to the restroom and clean up/urinate.  I understand the psychological thought of not wanting to waste the sperm or flush it out, but believe me if those little swimmers aren't on their way immediately then they aren't going to make it.  I do belive that whatever you do that makes you feel like you are increasing your chances  and stay positive is what you should do, but it really makes absolutely no difference.

@chucktgirl: I get fixated on the non-realism of movie sex, too. During a hot-and-heavy scene in a movie or on TV, I always think, "why aren't they using a condom"? "what are they thinking?"

I have to say I love this thread. I really thought I was the only fluid-phobe out there who hates the mess. One of the reasons I like doing things in the AM is b/c I can get up and shower soon after. We sometimes keep a roll of paper towels near the side of the bed, but since we have a king-sized bed, sometimes it isn't always in reach if we're towards the middle so there has to be some strategic, coordinated "shimmying" (sorry for the image) in order to reach them!

I've always told DH someone should invent some type of disposable wipe for just this purpose! It's a million dollar idea!

Before ttc I would run to the bathroom and pee because I heard that was the best way to prevent a UTI. While ttc, I lay there for at least 10 minutes if not longer. DH usually runs and gets a towel, I have no idea if it makes any difference at all and I imagine that it doesn't but I also think it can't hurt!

    **children mentioned**

With TTC both my kids, I laid there with a pillow under my butt for about 20 minutes. Read a book and chilled. I was never concerned with UTI's or anything else. It obviously worked for me. :)
I did, however, pee and shower after the 20 minutes was over.

These responses were hilarious to read. I'm not grossed out by it and usually (in the past) get up pretty much right away to clean up. Not because it was gross but because I didn't want to accidentally fall asleep and wake up with my legs sealed shut. lol. Since TTC, I usually try to "marinate" for about 10 mins or so and then clean up. I figured if there was any chance laying there a few minutes could help, it was worth the effort.

    Very entertaining PPs

Here I go jumping on the TMI bandwagon.. 15 mins of marinating, here.. and tissues are my friend.

More TMI: turns out 'juice' coagulates for 5-30 mins after, umm, departing.. to help the little swimmers along, and then liquifies.  And the more, umm, departures there are, the thicker the coagulation is.

I pull up my knees to my chest and roll back and forth, saying, "It increases the chaaaahnces of conception."

Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....

Honestly for me-- the worst part is leaking for 1-2 days AFTER we BD. I will be at work the next day, stand up to go to a meeting, and BAM...spermie liquid flows out! You then walk around the rest of the day smelling like a tadpole tank (until you can get home and shower).
THIS EXACTLY!!! I make a point of telling H every time he's around when he's dripped out of me, so he understands what I have to go through. I've just gotten into a habit of having pantyliners with me because I cant stand the "wet undies" that comes with the BD aftermath. LOL this post is all sorts of TMI!!!

Yup, pantyliners are a girl's best friend. After the deed (usually in the AM), I would shower, then always wear a liner that day, just in case.

Well...it takes a few minutes before I can feel my toes or move my body parts again.... I'm sure I mentioned hubby has mad skills... I usually have him give me a quick wipe down, otherwise the "juices" glue my ass to the sheets. Once the out-of-body experience is over and I can move again, I pee and shower. Then I eat a sandwich.
