Cloth Diapering

Newbie Washing Question - Separate Materials?

Hi ladies! We're starting our first cloth weekend with 8mo DD - so far so good! Question as my wet bag is filling up - when prepping the diapers I separated the natural and man-made fibers for washing, but do I need to do the same when washing dirties? I have Flip covers, BG4.0, cotton prefolds, microfiber and hemp inserts, if that makes a difference. All labels have the same washing instructions (cold, hot, rinse).

Thanks in advance and wish us luck this weekend. And thanks for all the great info I've found on this board so far!

Other than when prepping (when unbleached natural fibers release oils that can re-deposit on the synthetics causing them to repel) you can wash everything all together.

  • Thanks, ladies! We made it through most of the day (wasn't brave enough to leave her in them while we ran errands) and all went well. And I threw my first load in the wash! I'm feeling quite proud of myself. :-)
