My daughter is hi risk so she has a sonogram ever time she goes to the Dr, at her 10wk appt on the sonogram, right between the legs there is letters...(grl) what do u guys think this means? I'll try and upload a pic?

They wouldn't be able to tell with any kind of certainty at 10 weeks. It all looks the same at that point. Most women have an ultrasound around 18-20 weeks where they can find out the sex of the baby if they choose to.

Yeah, 10 weeks is really too early to tell by US alone.  The genitals don't even start forming until week 9.

No, that's way too early for them to be able to tell the sex. She should have an anatomy scan around 18-20 weeks and they will tell you then.

Are you sure it wasn't "crl" as in crown rump length? That would make much more sense at 10 weeks.

I was thinking crl for crown rump length too. Impossible to tell sex by 10wk u/s. And if someone says they've done it, they just guessed the correct 50% choice. ;-)

I'm fine, but the 1/4 that didn't could have really hurt her feelings. Cyber bullying is a serious problem, and just because we're adults doesn't mean it's ok to do it. Don't we want to teach our children and future children better?

I was definitely not mean. I was completely polite and inquiring why the woman was here instead of her daughter. There was absolutely nothing in my post or subsequent responses that can be construed as cyber bullying. As @katiehgee said, "Unbunch thy panties."

OP what does your daughter say? Sounds like you're overstepping some boundries trying to post a photo of her baby and her uterus to a bunch of online strangers. I bet you wouldn't even think to crop out her name. Step away from the internet.

Yeah, medical shorthand is not like text speak. They don't usually just leave out one vowel like that. Female would usually just be F anyway.

The ultrasound they gave me just says "baby" on it :P

Thank you,my daughter is 19 and I do a lot of research for her she lives with me and I'm really excited grandma thank you so much for your support it means so much'we are both actually logged in on this site under the same name we both like to read stuff more information it's really helpful to her she really likes it when I do that...but thank you so much for your support I didn't realize people can be so mean

it was just a question I didn't know what it meant. sexual organs develop between 11 and 14 weeks, so if the tech did know it was a girl you might want to also ask them to pick lottery numbers.

I am 19 due December 3rd. Obviously some of you are dealing with some hormones changes like I am as well, but you don't have to be so snappy. I don't know about you but I was raised if you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all. My mom is my bestfriend and I dont have the time to post on here as much as I would like so she does it for me. If that is too big of a problem for you all simply don't answer her questions at all, do not call them silly & put her down because of them. Because these are questions that I have asked her and clearly some people aren't as informed as others on what CRL means. Why do you all care so much about what she's posting about me? She is my mom lol she knows her boundaries and she does not cross them. Now let's all settle down and close our mouths because if something like this happens again. I won't be posting on this page & I really like this app & don't want to leave. But I won't stand for this. Thank you to the ones that answered the question properly I appreciate your help.

sarahpausche No, Babycenter is just as bad as the Bump. This is not the place to be posting if you don't want to be involved with immature bashing and cattiness. I just decided to lurk after having my baby to see if anything has changed, but apparently not. It doesn't even matter what due date month board you are on, they are all the same. My suggestion is the What to Expect app. I had switched to that and it was less volatile.

So let me get this straight. To those of you that consider yourself "snarky" and just replying to a "stupid" or "silly" question: 

1) On the ultrasound, if you zoom, it does say GRL. So, no it's not "clearly CRL". 

2) You guys don't consider yourself bullies, and want people to stick up for themselves, but when they do, you just call them stupid and make fun of them? That is textbook bully. 

3) Instead of growing the F up and letting the people that may be more sensitive to your unnecessary "snark" you continue poking fun at them, suggesting other websites? I repeat, classic bully behavior.

You are grown a** women here, right? That chica was 19 years old. She had a serious question. Maybe her doctors office is hard to get a hold of. Maybe she can't figure out what's what with the google searches. Maybe she trusted you guys. Maybe you can show a little freakin patience and acceptance with people instead of picking on them!
