TTC after 35

Feeling a little nervous...

edited May 2014 in TTC after 35
So AF is now over two days late, which is very unusual for me. I'm about 12-13 DPO (my cycle is 24-25 days, O around CD14). Negative FRER on Wednesday and Thursday FMU, and a negative today on a cheapie (ran out of the good stuff).

I feel nauseated, headachy and tired, but that's actually pretty normal for me because I have chronic migraines. I've had cramping, but it doesn't feel as severe as usual. More like somebody is rooting around for loose change below my belly button. Boobs are sore and sensitive (especially nips - I nearly yelped when the hot water hit them in the shower yesterday), but they generally get sore from PMS. And most of these symptoms were stronger Wed and Thurs and calmer today.

I can't get in to my doctor for a blood test until Tuesday, by which point I think I'd know one way or the other anyway. Anyone have any ideas for staying calm until I know what's going on?
Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....

Re: Feeling a little nervous...

  • The suspense is such a killer!! My only advice would be to find something to distract you! I'm sorry you have to wait until Tuesday. Inconvenient holiday weekend! Try and have fun this weekend. Take your mind off of it. I know, I know .. easier said than done!!
Hoping for the best for you!!

  • Thanks! I've decided that if I'm just late, being stressed about it will just make me even later. And AF needs to be over before I can get an HSG on Wednesday.

Luckily, we have plans to keep us busy this weekend.

  • I've been running to the same thing every cycle recently. But as soon as I put out of my mind I get AF. I think it's just a matter of relaxing and releasing the anxiety. I hope you get through the weekend and maybe it IS a BFP? Good luck!

  • I know you draw the line at checking your cervix :) but I can't remember if you chart/temp. Doing so would let you know whether you're actually "late" or just ovulated late.

Either way, though, the waiting is horrid. Hang in there, and FX this is your bfp!

  • I don't chart. I had an US CD13 and the doc said I was about to O, and I got my LH surge the next day. It's CD27.

I hope your able to keep your mind off stuff. Late cycles are always rough. The last cycle I was a few days late which probably put my O 2 days past when I got the +OPK.  I turned 2 tests negative until I got it day 31 after 3 months of 28 or 29 day cycles.  I also threw up a few times the same morning AF arrived.  Our bodies can be whack-a-doodle sometimes.
