The DMV SUCKS!! (edit for bad description LOL)

I don't drive, I had my license as a just in case.  Well back in Aug 2013 I lost, my license, but it was coming up for renewal so instead of renewing and I got a MA ID instead and took a new pic,   Anyway I had forgotten that the our car is registered in my name so we got a stating that I needed to have valid license or the ins would be cancelled.  So I just went online, went through the process of renewal and I can't renew my license without going into a DMV.  That's my 1st WTF, my 2nd WTF, I tried calling them to find out why I need to go in and the phone lines have been open for all of 6mins and there is already a 15-20min hold!  

Edit - My licenses wasn't taken away, I physically misplaced it.  Hahaha

UPDATE - I got through to someone at the DMV, since I have a MA ID I have to turn that over to them before I can get my license.

I took one when I went in for the MA ID, I don't know why they can't use that one.

Here you can renew if it's less than two years expired.

hopefully you can make an appt rather than waiting in line.

Once had call in with a question (and this was pre-economic crisis/ pre-budget cuts) waited well over an hour on the phone.

@whocanitbenow, That's what they need me to do, turn the MA ID over. It hadn't occurred to me that I would need to do that.  

The reason I didn't renew my license in Aug was because I don't drive and I didn't have the 50.00 to spend on a license I wasn't using, but I had forgotten our car is registered in my name. We got a letter from our ins co telling us that I needed to renew my license or the ins would be canceled, so that's where we are now.

@uconnhuskie007, I wonder if the cop forgot to put the ticket in the system and that's why it's not coming up online. My husband got a spending ticket, he went to court to fight it and he was told the ticket didn't exist.  He hasn't had to pay it and it's not showing up on his license.

There's a lot of variety from state to state with rules about renewing, which is frustrating.

The DMV in New Mexico is the absolute worst.

Here you can only renew your registration online.  You can renew your license for up to 5 years but nothing to do with your license can be done online.

I want to confirm though because on the ticket it says if it's not paid in 20 days my license could be revoked (!?) and that would be on the 25th 

@uconnhuskie007, I called at 9:06 and was told that it would be a 15-20mins hold, BUT they offer a call back thingy.  You don't lose your place in line, you give the # you want to be called back on and once your hold place is up they call you back.  I did it at my desk and it really was 20mins and I got a call from a csr at the dmv.

@uconnhuskie007 ugh, I hope this doesn't happen to me.  Our registration sticker is expired but I lost the new one, I mailed in the paperwork today for a replacement but don't know how long the wait will be to get a new one.  I'm really hoping I don't get pulled over!

I wouldn't pay it.  Is it even legal to put the ticket in after the fact???  Hmmmm If they do I'd take it to court and fight it.

There is a branch of the DMV here that is in the mall.  The employees are SUPER friendly and helpful and you are in and out before you know it.  It is not the closest DMV to me, but I go out of my way to go to that one.
