Cloth Diapering

Which do you prefer, kawaii or alva

My sil is pregnant, yay!  So this time around she says she wants to cloth diaper.  I am so excited to start a stock for her.  I use a mix of Thirstie aio and flips. I wanted to get her some pockets.  I was thinking about some alva because they are pretty inexpensive.  I am hopeful that she will stick with it but it can be a lot of work.  So, what say you cloth diaper experts.  What should I start her with that will make her want to keep cloth diapering.

  • I had a skinny baby, and my Alvas didn't fit until 6 months. I still love them at 14 months. And we're actually still on the lowest rise setting (21 lbs, 31"). My OS Kawaiis didn't fit until 7-8 months. Again, we're still on the lowest rise for those. Oh, and I stuff both with either blend inserts (Alva) or bamboo inserts (Alva and Kawaii).

My Kawaii Pure & Naturals fit from birth. I'm just retiring those now, although I could probably get another couple weeks out of them. I stuffed them with a NB size Alva blend insert.

Kawaiis! they're our main brand. No problems. We tried some Alvas last year but they didn't fit DD well so I sold them pretty quickly. I think its so personal - like buying jeans for someone, almost.

  • Maybe you could spring for a NB rental or trial so that she can try out different types and brands of diapers. That's probably the best way to get her to stick with it.
