Anyone still taking Zofran?

I'm 16 weeks and I still have to take Zofran in the Morning. The past 2 weekends I tried going off of it and puked a few hours after being up. If it was one puke okay, but I puked 4 times and couldn't keep breakfast down. I was really hoping not to have to take it this late. Is anybody else still having to take it?

Re: Anyone still taking Zofran?

  • Yup.  I've had a few days where I haven't but the past 2 days have been horrid.  I've had to take up to 3 pills/day.  :(  I think it's the heat.  It's been hot and that makes me feel like ass.

  • I just started today. The past week had been hell. I finally took my stubborn ass in to see the doctor. I will take it as long as it makes me feel better.

  • Yup, still taking them. I'm showing but actually still lost weight from all the puking and nausea.
  • Yep, just got the official HG diagnosis after my er stay so I am sure it will be the whole pregnancy...just like last time. Fun fun fun.

  • Here too. My insurance is suddenly trying to pay for only 10 pills/month. I don't know what I'm going to do when my stockpile runs out. I have about a full month left because I started my hoard and saving pills when I was prescribed them knowing this happened last time too.

  • Yep, every 8 hours. Some people just don't get to feel good while pregnant. Hopefully OP you will be almost over the nausea!
  • I still take it off and on. I will have two, three, or (on a really rare, but good week) four good, sick-free days, and then it's back to puke-fest 2014. I had to pay out of pocket for the generic stuff the past two months because my insurance thought it would be cool to get all effed up. Holy crud is it expensive. $100 for generic zofran. I paid it willingly because without it I would be a puking hot mess, but I still can't get over the generic costing so damned much!

  • Aww poor thing! I stopped about 3 weeks ago because the constipation and indigestion it caused was honestly more difficult to handle than nausea...
Keep taking as long as you need to and hopefully you will feel better soon!

Here too, but now only once a day (in the morning) vs. the 3 times a day I had been taking it. Knock on wood.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I'm still taking it at 14+ weeks. I tried stopping over the weekend and then nothing stayed down. So back on it I went. I actually took it until the day I delivered my son, in my first pregnancy. The good news was, once I was well into the second and third trimester with him, it stopped the puking finally altogether. I felt like the first trimester hormones were way too out of control to really stop it and I wasn't sure if it was even doing anything at first but it really works. :)

I'm still taking it, but trying to wean off of it. I was taking it 4 times a day and now I'm down to 2-3. I'm going to try 1-2 over the weekend and see how it goes.

Yeah, that's really a pain in the ass. My insurance is the same way. They only pay for 18 pills every 21 days. Kind of difficult to work around when 18 pills last me less than a week. So far I've been paying for the generics out of pocket, but it's getting expensive. If it weren't for the promethazine that I'm also taking, I'd probably be back in the ER.

Order from canada, my insurance at first would only cover 12 pills and that is what I did.  it is like .75/pill.

  • It makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one. Thanks ladies!
  • Heck yes!  Not as many, but still have them and take at least once a day.  14w3d here!

When I took priomethazine I was knocked out for 5 hours. Can you tell me how you take it and function? Did you take it at night?

    Promethazine is Phenergan right?

Yeah, it's the generic if I'm not mistaken. @jlove253‌ my script instructions say to take it every 12 hours, but I only take it once a day at night because it does make my really drowsy.

Ahh that's what's I but wasn't positive. I take it every 4 hours in suppository form. It makes me rather dizzy and weak but my doctor says it's normal.

Yeah, I'm really not a fan of it since Zofran also gives me dizzy spells. I can't wait to stop taking so many meds.

I am just weaned off Unisom and B6 and I'm 16 weeks today. Still not feeling awesome but I'm so tired of feeling drowsy!!! Still taking the B6 but not sure it helps.
  • I take diclegis, zofran didn't work made me sicker. So now pay an arm and kidney for it. Oh but it is worth it. 15 w and still sick. tried coming off nope not happening.
  • I'm 16 weeks too and I still have my bottle in my purse. It's always with me. It really sucks. I have great days and then I have days where if I don't have those suckers in my system I'm sick all day. I've lost 15 since bfp and have only gained 5 back so far. My wic ladies were not happy about that one :/ lol. My dr says I'm fine though. Baby is kicking and thriving :)
  • I am taking it less often, but still about once a day (I was taking it 2x per day earlier). I am puking much less than I was a few weeks ago though. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I took it until about 20 weeks. I think I may be having a boy this time because my m/s is not as bad this time (and more like my first pregnancy).

You should take it as long as you need it.
