Trouble TTC

Clomid Side Effect (maybe)

I had what can only be termed as an "episode" today.  Today is the 5th day on Clomid, been having some nausea and hot flashes, but nothing major.  Today I was at work in a meeting and everything was fine.  Just minutes before the end of the meeting my right hand started tingling. I figured that I had just been resting my arm on the table and it had gone to sleep.  I moved my arm but it got progressively and quickly worse. I stood up to leave the meeting and got about 3 steps towards the door when I was overcome with dizziness and my arm went numb up to the elbow. I quickly sat down and my chest started to constrict, I felt horrible, on the verge of passing out and just in general very bad. My co-workers noticed I was ill and called the campus security who called the ambulance (ugh). They came and checked me out and found nothing out of the ordinary. I was still very dizzy but the  numbness had started to fade but not gone away completely.  A coworker drove me home because I was still feeling too bad to drive. I came home and laid down, eventually slept for awhile and woke feeling better. I called my REs office anad they said the tingling could not be from the Clomid. However I've read several accounts online of women on Clomid having the exact same experience as me.

I'm posting this here for informational purposes mostly, in case anyone else has issues like this.

I have chronic anxiety and panic attack issues and I have definitely had tingling/numbness from them. Now, not saying that it wasn't the Clomid, but there is definitely a medical reason why you were told it was a panic attack. Granted, most people who don't have chronic anxiety don't just have a random attack without a reason for it, so I feel like it was probably somehow medication related.

You'll probably never know for sure, but glad it all turned out to be nothing serious!

Wow. I'm on my first cycle of Clomid and the only side effect I've had is a headache. I've had a panic attack before and I experienced dizziness and my hands went numb. Would there have been a reason for you to have a panic or anxiety attack? If it happens again, keep in mind what was going on around you and how you felt before the numbness and other symptoms. I hope everything is ok!
  • Sounds a lot like a panic attack to me.  What was the meeting about?  Were you feeling any kind of anxiety before this started?  I've done about 6 rounds of clomid and I've never had any kind of experience like this.
