Joe Francis chose to do IVF?

Don't ask me how I came across this article today, but I did:

Going Wild With Twin Girls

Okay, I'm grossed out by so much of this. First, Joe Francis says loves girls so he wanted to have girls with his girlfriend. He says “We chose to have girls.  I believe people will finally understand my love, respect and admiration for women.  I love girls.” That in itself creeps me out a little. For those of you who aren't familiar with Joe Francis, he is the founder and name behind the "Girls-Gone-Wild" video franchise. These are the videos where young college co-eds get drunk out of their minds and get convinced (exploited?) to star in porn on a special bus at spring break parties and the like. He's crazy rich now, and for some reason viewed as an actual celebrity and is spotted on different reality shows such as the Kardashians and Real Housewives. 

Anyway, according to the article I guess he wanted girls so much that he and his girlfriend chose to do IVF so they could have girls. And now they are allegedly pregnant with twin girls.

Way to cheapen the real struggle of IVF, stupid, creepy celebrities. And shame on whatever doctor allowed them to do IVF just for the sake of them having girls. I thought doctors wouldn't do that. I wonder if there's more to this story than they say.

Yeah, I read that a few weeks ago. It kinda bothered me, too. I just can't imagine choosing IVF just because you want your baby to be a certain sex. I think people like that need to re-evaluate why they want a child in the first place.

I don't necessarily look down on people who choose to do IVF for non medically-necessary reasons, but considering who he is I say his reasons are totally skeezy.

It is creepy, but I can't help but think there might be something else behind it. He mentioned that he wanted them to be free from genetic disorders...so that makes me think the one or both of them has something in their family history that they were afraid of. Of course, once you do that kind of testing there are some RE's who will let you choose the sex of the transfers if you have enough healthy ones to choose from. My guess is in the b-c-d list celebrity world, they think it is better to say, "we did IVF to get girls" instead of "we did IVF because I could pass on some genetic condition or disease".

You can do IVF for gender selection and even though it's not something I agree with, it's not something that makes a doctor a bad doctor. People are allowed elective procedures. There have been stars who did IVF and gender selection to get one of each sex or do IVF and use a surrogate because they don't want to "ruin" their bodies or take time away from their careers to be pregnant.

Does this "cheapen" my struggle with infertility? Nope. I feel bad that they have no clue what heart aches this really entails but people can't live their lives with other people's struggles in mind.

I guess I just don't care what people do with their lives because it doesn't effect mine.

I'm also not defending joe Francis but I do think celebrities have been using their money to manipulate their lives long before him so it doesn't surprise me I guess

He is definitely a creep, but once you have proven you are an idiot to me (Girls Gone Wild) then I am just going to assume the other crap you spew is idiotic as well. Thanks Joe Francis for being a non-credible source for ART.
