Glucose test results question... if you were borderline

Hey bumpies, happy Thursday!

I have a question about your one hour glucose tolerance results. Did anyone here pass it, but just by a few points? If so, did your practitioner recommend any further testing or give you any other instructions to manage your blood sugar? 

I just got my test results via email (LabCorp's system is slick!). I tested in the normal range, but only 6 points away from the high end of the range (in the low 130's). I haven't had a chance to talk with my midwife yet, which I will do, but am curious in the meantime to hear from anyone who tested in the upper end of the normal range. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this! I got a 135 and passing is 140 here. I'm meeting with my midwife on Tuesday and will talk to her about it.

stoofewokAlaska_Brideweeklyplanner, I took the test Monday afternoon. I have been really impressed with how promptly LabCorp gets results up, at least here in WA. I hope you get your results back soon!

From my understanding, the one-hour test is not diagnostic, it is a screen to see if you need the three-hour test. So if you passed the one-hour test, even if your number was close, I think you are probably good to go. Of course, all doctors will tell you to eat healthy and not overdo it on junk.

Failing is 130 and above with my doctors...I got 129, and they didn't have me do anything further.  The only thing that came of that test was my iron is low (which they told me it would be with multiples) so now I'm on an iron supplement too.  No 3 hour test though!

The one hour is designed to be failed. As PP stated it's a screen, the threshold is really low to catch potiental GD patients. This is why many fail the one hour and go on to pass the 2/3 hour.

I have never passed the one hour in all 4 if my pregnancies but passed the 3 hour. Today I almost didn't pass the 3 hour. 1st draw was a fasting blood sugar failed with a 153. I only passed the second, 3rd and 4th sticks but mere points. Because of the high first number I go in on Monday to see what we are going to do. More than likely test sugars in the morning and go from there.

If you are below the threshold then there is nothing to do. As PPs have said, the 1 hr is just to screen for people to take the 3 hr. Even if you are close to the number, don't worry about it

I had a 136. I was told to be mindful of sugar. No additional testing was necessary.

My OB's office considers anything above 139 as failing for the 1 hour screen. I scored 140 and will have to go in wed for the 3 hr. I am incredibly irritated to have to leave work for 4+ hours for what feels like a very unnecessary test but I think I am mostly annoyed because I need to be saving any hours I have for after the baby is born. Blarg.
