Nook App users

My mom's ereader died. She asked if she should get another ereader or a tablet. I told her to get an iPad and use the Nook app to access her books (she likes to re-read things). This way my dad could put his music on it. He just started chemo and I thought this could keep them entertained during treatments.

Am I correct? This is how the Nook app works, right?
