Time between feedings?

Do you count when LO is DONE feeding or when they start feeding--- and then feed again 3 hours after?

From start and then 2-3 hours unless they show signs of hunger beforehand.

I feed when he's hungry.   Before he hit birth weight we were told no longer than every 2 hours, starting from the beginning of his last feed. Once he hit birth weight we started feeding on demand.  This means anywhere from 30 minutes after his last feeding to 5 hours or so at night.

I have never fed by the clock, only by hunger cues.

as for time - LO is only 2 weeks now. we've been doing every 2-3 hrs in the day and then on demand at night

From the time they start eating. So if they start eating at 3pm if they are on a 3 hour schedule then they would eat at 6pm.

Thanks! I was doing once she finished... thinking then LO had a full belly and to do feedings from the end time.... woops!! Thanks for replying!

I was doing on demand but he was over eating and having gas and spit up issues.  My doula suggested to start doing feedings every 3 hours.  I start counting (loosely) from the time he finishes eating and try to push it at least 2.5 - 3 hours during the day... at night we do on demand starting from around 10/11pm.  Usually he's up every 2/2.5 hours and he's 5 weeks old.  Hope this helps
