Graduation gift

My oldest is graduating High school next week!  Can't believe it. I need your help with the ideas for the graduation gift. He wants a car, but this is not going to happen, sorry kid.

I am thinking something in 100 - 125 dollars range, something that would be useful for him in college, perhaps? He is very much in to computers and games and not very outdoorsy (sp?)

I was thinking about some gift certificate for the expierience, but can't think of anything particular. Please help me, gals.

TIA.

  • If he's going off to college, maybe one of those subscriptions for monthly boxes of stuff, like snacks? I think Naturebox is the one for healthy snacks, not sure what else is out there.

I found some fun options here:

  • He is going to college, but not starting his program until January 2015, so for another 7 months he is stuck with us :)

  • Thank you, ladies, lots of good ideas. I like the how to boil a water cookbook  :) - he will need one. Also mini fridge is an awesome suggestion - I think he will like it even now to have in his room, so he does not have to get out to grab his soda from the kitchen fridge.

I looked at the groupon and found a tickets to the local rock music festival for two deal. Do you think it's a good idea? I just want him to get out of the house once in a while, the kid is glued to his laptop in his room...

  • Mini fridge. New TV for his dorm room? Or blu ray player? My mom gave me a nice laundry basket filled with towels, my bath caddy, laundry soap, dryer sheets, etc. that was really nice! I also like the mini Keurig idea or a coffee maker.
