  • Most people doing blw have introduced whole eggs if there is no family history of allergies.

I have given whole eggs to DD. The first time was probably right around six months. It's one of the few foods she can actually eat blw style. Everything else just gets smeared on her face.

  • I e scrambled the whole egg and given it to DD. It's her favorite food right now. We don't have any history of egg allergies on either side of the family

  • We do whole eggs as well -- scrambled or in a quiche!

  • I fed A whole eggs earlier in the week, then a co-worker told me babies were not supposed to have the egg whites. She gave me articles saying the whites should not be given before age one due to allergies. I have felt terrible about it all week, so the article from @wedding06 makes me feel better.
  • I was told whole egg scrambled was fine as long as it was beaten really well because it broke up whatever it is in the egg whites that is why the recommendation was yolks only at first.  I always did whole eggs with DS1 and will with DS2.

  • If there are food allergies in family history best to wait on those foods until almost a year old.  My dad is allergic to whole eggs(he can have them cooked in things, just not like scrambled eggs or anything like that) and my husbands cousins little boy had a severe allergy to them when he was a baby so we stay away from eggs until 1 year old age.  But if there is no family history then you can slowly introduce allergen foods.
  • LO gets whole eggs, I started with just the yokes but once she handled that fine we went on to the whole egg.  Scrambled eggs are one of her favorites.  I do "green eggs"- blend the eggs with kale or spinach then scramble.  Both my 3 year old and LO love it.

  • I've mentioned this in previous threads ... I introduced scrambled eggs and DD had an allergic reaction. So just be careful ...

  • Pedi says no eggs before 1 and I don't see any reason to go against that advice. Plenty of other foods to give her.
