Leaking at night

Any advice to help prevent leaking at night? We use Grovia hybrids and will put in a booster but that doesn't always stop the leaks. Open to other brands!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Leaking at night

  • Where are the leaks occurring? Legs? Waist? Is the diaper saturated, or is the leaking happening before pee is absorbed? Does your LO sleep on side, stomach, back, or move around a lot?

  • Are you using grovia with just one of their inserts and a doubler? Do you change overnight? I don't use the grovia Ai2 inserts, but there's no way it'll be absorbent enough for that many hours overnight

  • You need a diaper with more absorbency. Grovia hybrids even with the booster aren't that absorbent. Do you have any prefolds to try?

@freezorburn I think the pee just leaks before it gets absorbed? My little guys tends to move around a lot at night so maybe his position has to do with it.
  • Fitteds are the only thing that works for us at night.

  • @mandymeesh I've just been using the soaker plus a booster (doubler). Change at least once a night but he usually can't make it to the morning after that.
  • @lbs2012‌ I'll have to check them out. I'm thinking I might try the wool route out at night.
  • @Aurora_Borealis haven't tried prefolds yet, but it's worth a try! Wasn't sure if wool was worth a try either?

We had to switch to fitteds and wool to stop our night time leaks.  Before you invest in wool, you might try a fitted with just a regular cover.  It turns out I don't have a heavy wetter, just a fast wetter. :)  My diapers had plenty of absorbency, just didn't absorb fast enough.  I bought a bunch of heavy duty night time diapers and most of them have turned out to be too much.  Still work, just overkill.

So now just a regular fitted and cover is fine.  Although, I already bought the wool, so that's usually what we use.

  • We use grovia AI2s during the day, but would never last ON. Bamboo prefolds and Blueberry covers work for us.

  • If the leaks are due to moving around during sleep, then you need something with some absorbency at the side. Like a fitted or a Snappi'd prefold. After that if you need additional absorbency you can always add a doubler or two. Agree with PP that you can use a regular cover first, to figure out if this is a solution for you. Then try wool as a cover if that interests you.
