Baby not Smiling

Carter turned 9 weeks last Tuesday and still will not give a full blown smile, but more of a smirk, when he is interacted with.  Funny, because he doesn't seem to have any problems smiling when he is asleep. Am I the only mom with a serious child, because I see smiley baby pics on here all the time.  Please tell me I'm not alone.

Re: Baby not Smiling

  • Honestly I just think it takes boys a little longer. At least that's my experience. I don't remember DS smiling as early as my DD.

  • Your not alone! Jacob is 9 weeks 5 days old and just started giving big smiles yesterday, but still mainly only little smirks
  • They are all different! Try not to worry. My first son was not a super smiley baby until about 12 weeks.

  • Thanks ladies, making me feel a lot better. Baby development is hard, especially when you see other babies doing something that yours is not but "should" be doing.

  • DS1 was close to 11w before he smiled. It stunk since he just started to smile and interact more and I went back to work I was so bummed.
