How long were you dilated/effaced before delivering?

Hi girls. At my appt yesterday (34 w 5d) I learned I was 2cm and 60% effaced. My doc told me to expect to go into labor probably next week, maybe the week after. I haven't looked this up a lot but I have heard singleton moms who were dilated/effaced for a few weeks before they delivered. Is it the same with twins, that this doesn't necessarily mean anything? I may have been living in denial thinking I could make it the whole 38 weeks

Was anyone else slightly dilated/effaced and still managed to hang on for a few more weeks? I know this will differ by person, I'm just looking for hope!

Lucky! I didn't even know I was having contractions, I thought it was just typical twin pains. Oy.

No advice at all, but I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK!   Congrats on making it as far as you have, it feels like such a distant dream to me to make it to 34 weeks, let alone 35.   I hope everything goes smoothly and you're able to keep them in until you're feeling comfortable yourself.

I started contracting at 32w and spent a day in L&D to stop contractions and get steroid shots. I was 3cm and 80% effaced from 32-35 weeks and then was 4-5cm at 36w. I made it to 37w and was induced. I contracted every day pretty regularly for almost five weeks.

I had some mild pre-e issues around 32w and they checked me for a baseline - I was 1.5cm and 70% effaced. I was having irregular but mildly painful contrax that were picked up on monitors and during NSTs.

My water broke at 34w. Contrax were instantly 7 min apart and I was 6cm dilated within 45min of my water breaking.

FWIW, this was similar to my singleton - slightly effaced at 36w, water broke at 37+1 w a 10hr labor.

At 34w I was 1cm and 70% effaced. I was induced at 38w. You could make it much longer just rest a lot!

It can mean something, it can mean nothing. I was 2.5cm dilated and 50% effaced before 26 weeks and made it (albeit on bed rest) till 37wks.

I spent 2 weeks at 7cm on hospital bedrest from 31 till 33 weeks. But both babies heads were trying to enter my pelvis at the same time, like two people trying to get through a door at the same time. Definitely not a typical case! From the time twin A dropped into my pelvis there was about an hour until he was born.

I was 1 cm dilated from 23 weeks to 28, and 2-3cm from 28-31 when I delivered... So it depends, I was on bed rest for 8 weeks.

I went a good 4 weeks 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced before being induced at 36 weeks.
