Viability Scan just short of 8 weeks anyone?

Doctors office called today asking if I would like an early viability scan/ultrasound to ease my mind coming off a loss last month. Anyone else had one of these? I know it's just an early ultrasound to see all is well. But is that too early to even get a heartbeat? I will just about be 8 weeks.

By 8 weeks you should be able to see a heartbeat. Heart usually starts beating around early in the 6th week. I like having an ultrasound in the 7th or 8th week to know what's happening in there!

I had my viability u/s on Monday at 6w4d and we got to see baby with a heartbeat. It made me feel a lot better about this pregnancy!

Thank you all so much. This is reassuring. It will certainly give me peace of mind and if something weren't right I'd rather know sooner. Is it just a small little ball at that point? I can't imagine its very big!

I had mine at 6w2d and there was a heartbeat. You should absolutely do it!

I had a viability/dating ultrasound done at 6w2d last pregnancy, which ended in MC. I have an appt for 6w3d this time around for a viability/dating ultrasound.  Really hoping to see the little heartbeat by then!

I will be having an early u/s somewhere around the 7 week mark +/- . I don't know if that's standard at my office or because of my history. I am glad to do this though since last time we didn't find our until my nt scan the babies had passed in the eighth week already.

With DS I heard/saw his hb at exactly 8 weeks (he measured 7w3d which was exactly right according to O) and he looked like a little gummy bear. You can see where the head is and there are little nubs for arms and legs. Pretty darn cute. Hope it goes well!

Go for it!  I had them at starting at 5 weeks & had one every week until 9 weeks.  Now I go every 2 weeks for check ups.  I love when they pull out the US machine.  :-)

You should definitely be able to see a heartbeat at 8 weeks. They can also make sure that the embryo is implanted in the uterus.

I had my viability scan at 5w6d and there was a heartbeat.

We saw a heartbeat at 6w3d. It was wonderful to get that peace of mind so early.

My RE just called and scheduled my viability scan for 6 weeks 3 days.
