Seeking Recommendations

Hello!  I'm new to the area, and have a 14 month old son and probably planning to have another before too long.  I had a couple questions for anyone with input:

1)  Does St. Luke's Boise or St. Luke's Meridian have a better delivery/recovery center?  (My husband is a nurse at St. Luke's and gets a facility discount so I have to pick one of the two.)

2) Any pediatricians you loved or despised?

Thanks!

  • Hi! I'm new to the Boise/Meridian area as well. I got some wonderful recommendations for OBs as we found out we were expecting the week we moved here and didn't know anyone. There's a shop downtown Boise called Buns in the Oven. They helped me get recommendations, they're so great! I went with Dr. Tim West. He practices primarily at St Lukes Boise but does one day a week in Meridian. He said he'd prefer if we can get to St Lukes Boise for delivery but if it was an emergency he'd go to meridian if needed. It seemed most doctors in the St Lukes womens center were about the same as far as Boise being primary and Meridian secondary. I'd say find the right doctor (Dr West has been great so far) and let that make your choice as far as preferred hospital. Sorry if that doesn't quite give you the answer you were looking for!
  • I delivered at st ALS and loved it, but my cousin delivered at st lukes Boise and had a very good experience. I know st als birthing centers are newer, but that's about the extent I know! As for pediatricians, I see dr antink and absolutely adore her, dr archibald comes highly recommended too, several of my friends see him, and we saw him once while dr antink was on vacation. I also had to see dr Julian once in a pinch, it was a terrible experience, my daughter has a tight frenulum, which is that piece that connects the tongue to mouth and was an extremely slow eater and had trouble gaining weight, dr Julian basically accused me of being a neglectful parent and made me sit in the lactation room while her nurse tried to contact a consultant. I sat there for an hour then was sent home and on the way home I got a call t come back. We later figured out she just wouldn't latch bc of this so I pumped and bottle fed, which was fine just felt like her bedside manner was poor, while dr antink was always informative and professional! Sorry so long!
