Going to head to Target today for our big outing, ha. Was just curious how do you shop with your newish baby, sling, full on carriage, lug the carrier etc...
Baby wearing, keeps your hands free, I also had a mini diaper bag with a change of clothes, a diaper and wipes. Also keeps strangers away. If you keep baby in the car seat just don't put the car seat in the upper basket, put it in the bigger area.
I either him in the infant seat and put it in the big part of the cart or I use the infant seat in the stroller and put whatever I'm buying in the underneath area of stroller
Depends on what I need to get. If it will fit in the bottom of the snap and go, I just use that. If I need a little more space, I put the car seat in the big part of the cart and pile stuff around. If I need the whole cart, I wear in the Beco.
I always find a sling of some sort to be the easiest in the beginning...if you have other kids to chase after at least...but the carrier works just nice if it is your only baby.
Baby wearing here too. He just sleeps and then its not much different from when it was just DD and I. She can still ride in the cart or walk or whatever
Dumb FTM question here lurking from June since I might be a May momma.. Why does everyone put in the big part? It seems like when I see people out with car seats in the basket they are almost always on the top part of the basket. Am I crazy?
The cart is out of balance if the baby is at the top and can easily topple over.
Baby wearing, ring sling or Mai tai at this point, ergo later. Carrier in the basket part. @Kbinford01, like others have said it's unsafe on the top, as well forcing it to latch into the cart can damage the car seat, thus making it unsafe in the car.
I ran into Target after LO's pedi appt yesterday. I have an Ergo and she's too small for it, so I kept her in her infant carrier and put the carrier in to the main part of the shopping cart.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
I just leave him in the car seat and it snaps into our stroller. I don't like trying to get him in and out of the car seat, its a bigger hassle than the double stroller IMO.

It's unsafe for all of the reasons listed above. I know of a couple in a local support group who lost their daughter when the seat flipped off of a shopping cart. Not worth the risk at all.
I haven't managed to go out alone shopping. DD is too small for a structured carrier, and I'm terrified of unstructured baby wearing... Went to a baby wearing group and they seemed scared to handle her, how am I supposed to?
