What's Up Wednesday

What's going on today everyone?

Yesterday I had all day meetings and nothing productive came out of any of them.  I hate when that happens.

Also, I love how some of you guys think of me when you see flamingo print things. :-)  it seriously makes my day.  I'm buying that flamingo dress when I run to Target tomorrow after work. :-)

I currently have nothing summer related for my kid, so this weekend I'm taking a lot of her pants and making them into capris because the kid hasn't grown since maybe October and all the summer clothes I bought her at the end of last season on clearance are at least 1 full size too big.

I'm trying to buy a Peg Perego stroller from a mom to mom sale. I don't necessarily need it but for $50 I'll use it. Plus it fold sup really nice for DH's truck!

  • I watched the entire season of DWTS for the first time this season. I'm a little disappointed that all they win is the trophy and money for themselves. Part of me feels like they should have been competing for a charity or cause or something bigger than just "to win."

  • We brought the swing up last night to try and get the dogs used to it again, DD is obsessed.

I'm debating if I want to be home for the UPS guy today, I think he's going to judge my 4 huge boxes that he has to deliver.

I also need to move an ass ton of sod that we cut to make room for new landscaping and gardens. I'm going to be the huge sweaty pregnant lady sweating buckets in like 70 degree weather while the neighbors watch. At least it's all in the back yard...

That's just it... I don't really know. I would like to wear things that are kind of "trendy" or "in" right now. But I know that 90% of the time I am looking like a grandmother. Then I go to browse, and I can't figure out what looks good with what, and how to pair things... so I give up. ugh. I sound so ridiculous haha.

Work attire or fun attire? Pants and tops or dresses? I'm partial to dresses, especially in the summer. But I never really go too trendy bc I don't want to have to replace everything too often.

  • Hi again!  I am here for a few moments taking a breath before I jump into today's work.  Things are insane at work right now.  I am really frustrated because I feel like the previous supervisor let a lot of stuff go.  It is also frustrating because I feel like she isn't letting me do my job supervising.

I appreciate the tough love and thoughts that you guys had about the whole therapy appointment thing.  I get it, and I want to fight because I do love my DH and want Luci to have both of us together, I am just struggling.  He talks a really good game, but when it comes to follow through he sucks, which is why I feel like he needs to make an appointment.  I don't know.  I will probably get off my duff and just call when I have a few minutes.

We are still trying to decide if we are going to sell our house.  DH got some good job news at his last appointment and when he talked to his boss, so things might actually be looking up in some ways.

    That's about all I have....

  • We are finally getting our house treated for termites.  This was the first year DH saw them all coming out of the attic; he was away the last two years.  Seeing it has finally motivated him.  Woohoo!  But, adios $1325 :(

We leave for Austin on a terribly early flight tomorrow. I still have to decide what we are wearing, most likely do laundry, pack, clean, conference with James' teacher at 4:20, go to Target to get a couple things, oh and I work full time too. Eek, so much to do.

I was super lazy yesterday, and just did nothing but feed and change and burp the baby on repeat. He wanted to cluster feed so I was stuck on the couch. I used that time wisely by watching every episode of Derek that has been made so far. Has anyone else watched that show? It's hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. So well written. On today's agenda is watching all episodes of Orange Is The New Black. I keep hearing it's good, so I'm going to stream them and binge watch. Any suggestions for once I finish with that?
You are not lazy. Moms of newborns are supposed to be centered on feeding and changing the baby. As for shows, have you seen The Good Wife yet?

That's all I did for my entire ML. Not lazy, surviving.

House of Cards is fantastic but it is about the American government and not sure if it would be as interesting to you (although it is all fake, hope our government isn't THAT fucked up). Have you seen Arrested Development?

Both. I ideally want stuff that could be work OR fun, as I work in a business casual environment. I haven't worn many dresses, but I like both. And I don't need to be very trendy, just less grandma-ish! haha

@Pokedot Those dresses are cute, but I feel like they'd look ridiculous on me! This is where I have trouble. I'm 6'0 so maybe that has something to do with it? Ugh.

  • I just need some cheap shorts & summer type things for Nancy.  I bought 4 pairs of shorts and 6 tops at Target for her for $5 and under each, but seriously.  Did I miss the sales?  Were they all in February?  Where are those of you in the Midwest with short seasons buying your summer clothes?

Now that I know our next kid is a boy and I'm not reusing the girl clothes, I just can't justify spending much on summer clothes when we have summer for basically 2 1/2 ish months.  Winter clothes we got a ton of use out of.  Summer clothes?  Pf, No.  I'm hoping if I just make a few of her pants capris this weekend that it'll be fine and I can just call it a day.  She does have quite a few sun dresses and rompers she could wear too.

I think this is so cute!

For more office attire though, I like these, as long as they're not too short. It's kind of hard to tell from the photos:

I like an open-front cardigan or a shrug to make it less bare for work.

I don't think so especially the second one. You could dress it up with a cardigan for work and strappy sandals then be more casual with ballet flats or a flip flop style shoe.

I didn't see this before. I'm only 5'9", but I often have trouble at places like Kohls, Target, etc, with dresses being too short to be work appropriate. In that case, I'd probably lean toward nicer pants or capris and a cute top.

Today is my first day back working after my surgery & I am feeling super thankful for my WFH position.

@KellersPrag‌ I am the same way with clothes. I have gift cards burning a whole in my wallet bc I never know what to get. I usually end up using them to buy other people gifts!

I watched like 5 seasons of Scrubs on DVD when I was on maternity leave with DS! That was my favorite show.

Shows we are watching are Fargo, Mad Men, and Boardwalk Empire.

For the most part we are putting DD in dresses, she wore them with a cardigan or long sleeved shirt in spring (and will again in fall). I also found that she can still wear the newborn and 6-12 month shorts from last summer (and the summer before) as well as 2T shorts that I bought long styles of and will put her in again next year. I found a bunch of bike type shorts at The Childrens Place for cheep.

I'm so sorry. Did you come to and realize what happened or did someone find you?

All I can think of is JD from scrubs when I hear of this happening.
I came to. I called DH because I was panicky and I could feel it coming but I couldn't stop it(the nauseated feeling, dizzy, lightheaded, sweaty) He rushed home and I was awake.
Ugh, that's the worst feeling. I've passed out/almost passed out so many times. Glad you're OK!

Newborn shorts! Holy mackerel, how much does she weigh? I find shorts and skirts are sometimes difficult because they are too wide. I love dresses for this reason.

I'm listening to Nick Lachey's CD on Spotify from when he and J-Simps broke up.I'm reliving 2006 and loving it. But I'm sad that Ashley Parker Angel is not on Spotify.
That happened to my Mom a few years ago...she actually cracked her head open while she was falling and had to get a couple stitches.  Scary stuff!  Apparently this happens quite regularly due to straining.

This is a weird thing to be typing...

What's in CO? Don't move before we can have a TN NC mountain get together!

CO is one of our back-up plans if DH ever gets fired. That or GA. I don't know which I would prefer. Probably GA though.
